Gambo and Ash were talking yesterday about the pathetic QB's in the league. Outside of the top 10-or-so teams, the QB play in this league has been pitiful this year. I agree with that.

Collins/Young?
Russell?
Delhomme?
Smith/Hill?
Bulger?

These guys are better than Jeff Garcia? I'm not saying that he is the answer long term, but he has to be better than at least 10 starters in this league right now.

I just thought it was wierd.

Yeah, you'd think that Carolina, a team that should be in contention, would have signed him a couple of weeks ago...if nothing else then to light a fire under the ragin' cajun's arse.

The rams just want to get sold and are giving away their best players like Will Witherspoon to the eagles, who he now starts for and even scored a interception return for td in his first game against the pitifull skins.

The rams got nothing worth anything in the deal.A wide reciever who will never see the field and a couple last round picks.I think a 6th and 7th.I'm not persackly sure on the late round picks. It could be just one.

The rams are reducing the payroll and value of the team all in order for them to be sold.Chip can't afford the taxes on the 60% that he and his sister own.

I hope they get moved back to L.A. myself. Then if Goodell wants to bring a new team into St.Louis he can. That women owner ran the rams into the ground in Aneheim just so she could move them to her home town for more money in the first place.Carrol Rosenbloom probably rolled in his grave when she did that.

Carrol traded the colts to Irsay for the rams a billion years ago and it was to give Irsay a break in the deal and to get the first expansion team deal.

Not the greatest time to be selling anything that big.Yet that stadium is gonna get built and only a few teams can get out of their lease like the rams can.The Jags would have to pay 100 million until the year 2030.So you can forget about them.

Finally to the THREAD POINT.The rams paid Bulger the highest contract in rams history of the franchise to lead that team and he did, right into the gutter and now they want the first draft pick so they can get Locker from Washington to be the qb.I even think they want to lose against the lions this week (or the fans do)so they can assure themselves of the pick.So they would never invest in GARCIA to help them out.

The rams message board only talks about the draft, draft failures, and moving.Thats about it.Oh and maybe add blame.Too depressing to go to more than once a month or less.I never heard of Locker till I read about him on their board and I'm not sure he's the answer either.

Howie Longs kid was the second player taken a year ago and he stinks on soap. This years 2nd player taken OT is even worse.

So WE CARDINALS fans should'nt complain so much when we are growing our own players and even picking up undrafted free agents and making players out of them too.

Garcia was released by the Raiders which means either he was terrible in camp and was beaten out by Russell, he has some injury issues or the Raiders made yet another mistake(I'd say it must be the first 2 because NFL teams are quick to jump on other teams mistakes).

None of those.
He asked for his release because it was obvious that there wasn't going to be any competition at all for the starting spot in camp.
He felt his window as a starter was still open and wanted the chance to prove it.

Anyway, as far as Garcia's unemployment he's proven that he needs to be in the right system (see: Eagles, Niners, Bucs) with West Coast influences versus just any old one (see: Browns, Lions).

Of the handful of teams that need a QB the best fit by far and away is Oakland. Considering they've gone to backup as of now, it'd be the best situation, but an unlikely return.

Nobody views Jeff Garcia as their QBOF, that's why.

The good teams don't need Garcia. The bad teams do, and desperately, but he's not going to spur ticket sales, he's not going to save a season, and he just might play well enough that your team misses the play-offs AND a lottery pick.

adding jeff garcia to anyone of those terrible teams would be like putting a knee bandage on on a gun shot wound. not trying to be funny, but those teams are terrible across the board. I agree with the person who brough up carolina that may be somewhat of a fit, but the carolina offense has some issues as well(mainly in the passing game/WR's).

No idea TBH.

Bulger?

And Garcia isn't enough to get most of those teams winning anyway.

not to mention he is way past his prime, hasn't had success in the last couple of years, and he would be walking into a new team midway through the season without any camp prep. i guess jeff can blame oakland for firing him after training camp. if not for that garcia may be on another NFL roster right now(had he participated in that camp).

I think the Niners makes the most sense too, since they fancy themselves contenders. Plus, they already have Carolina's 1st round pick this year, so its not like they'd have to tank it to still end up with a good draft pick.

I also just can't understand why Carolina didn't bring him in (even as a backup) when Josh went down for the year.

Just wierd.

Now for the controversial thought of the day...

If, God forbid, Kurt went down, I would be alot more comfortable bringing in Garcia off the street to back up Leinart than BSP. I know he is past his prime, but I think he could still contribute in the right system.

I'm still surprised the Redskins didn't make a move for him after failing to land Cutler or Sanchez. They run a WC system and he could have definitely brought them a few more W's by now.

Has there ever been such a bad year for QB play, especially compared to good QB play.

Assumption made for the below analysis - a rating under 80 is bad, 80 to 90 is average, and above 90 is good.

Last year with QB's who averaged at least 14 passes per game there were 8 QB's who had a rating under 80 and 9 QB's with a rating over 90.

This year there are 13 QB's with a rating under 80 and 14 QB's with a rating over 90.

Shows such a huge gap between the teams that have a QB compared to the ones that do not. More so then ever. Its why we saw 6 of the 13 games this past weekend become 28 or more point blow outs which hasn't happened since 1970. Its why the margin of victory average is at its highest since the merger.

I think we are going to see a lot of QB's come out early from college and a lot of them being picked in the 1st round this year, whether the QB deserves it or not, its just that a lot of teams more so then ever are so QB starved right now.
