Several local Orlando news sources as well as RealGM are reporting that Howard has consented to play out his contract for the 12-13 season as long as the Magic consent to not trade him.

Hmmm.

dallas sources say he will be a mav next year, NJ net sources say he will be a net. there are too many sources that don't want their identity known these days. as for the real source himself, howard, appears to change his mind daily.

This guy is a bigger drama queen than Lebron.

OT, but you think the Magic regret letting Gortat go? 16/11 would sure be a decent replacement for when the Magic lose him. Plus they wouldn't have the horrible Hedo contract!

true, orlando has made some questionable moves in the personnel department. maybe that's why howard wants out. i give lebron credit for at least keeping his mouth closed about his free agent period as much as he could during the regular season. he was smart enough to know how to make cleveland believe that they actually had a chance to re-sign him. then he went all drama on everyone in the summer. if dwight were smart he would have kept his mouth shut and verbally committ to the magic all along, and then opted out if he really wanted out.

that's not to say they couldn't trade him still if he didn't put something on paper, but it would have made them less suspicious compared to what they are now. i wonder what he is saying right now. someone is probably drunk dialing...

Dwight Howard has confirmed that he will opt-in for the 12-13 season in an exclusive interview with RealGM's Jarrod Rudolph.
Howard will formally sign the contract in the morning on Thursday.
Howard was apologetic for putting the organization through the "circus" that has followed him in recent days and vows to be better moving forward.
Over the course of Wednesday, Howard appeared to be indecisive on his wishes for the 12-13 season in the face of a possible trade from the Magic. The organization informed Howard they would seek a trade if he couldn't give them an assurance of his desire to remain beyond the current season.
More details of the interview to follow shortly.

We should see a number of dominoes finally fall tomorrow now that Howard has opted to stay another year in Orlando. I guess the biggest question in all of this is what happens with Deron Williams? I'm not sure he'll choose to stay with New Jersey without Dwight coming to join him. They risk losing him for nothing if reports are true that he may sign with Dallas this summer.

I bet the Lakers finally pull the trigger on some sort of deal using their picks and maybe Gasol now that Dwight is off the table.
