I found it hilarious that Booger McFarland last night was gushing over the Rams defense. This is their defensive points given up the last 3 weeks:

44(yes KC scored 51 but 7 was a defensive score)
31
45

That's 120 points in 3 weeks their defense has given up. Hell, we've only given up 30+ points only twice this season and held the same Chief team that scored 52 last night to 26 points. The rams have given up 30+ points 5 times this season and 3 weeks in a row. They can't expect their offense to put up 30+ points every week. I don't see them beating N.O. in a rematch either. The Rams are good, don't get me wrong, but their supposed great Wade Phillips defense gives up points like they're an Arena team.

My instinct is to agree with you but the league right now is built on "good enough" defense. It isn't about stopping the other team, it's about outscoring the other team. I don't agree with it and think they pendulum has swung far too far in one direction but tonight's game was a replay of the Super Bowl last year. You're probably not going to stop the top scoring teams so you have to be able to outscore them.

And as bad as the Rams defense was, it was also making plays. Which it wasn't doing against NO. Umbaku had a breakout game and they'll be getting Talib back soon after the bye. It doesn't compute for my brain but this team is actually built to win a championship as is.

Losing Kupp may have actually forced Goff to get better. He seems to spread the ball around much more now that Kupp is out of the lineup and that makes this offense more potent IMO. Kupp was always clutch on third down and in important situations but as much as I like him, I'd take Higbee, Everett and Reynolds over just Kupp. A go-to guy is nice but spreading it around and keeping the defense off balance and guessing is so much better.

Attendance and ratings were sagging. The NFL altered the rules. The changes have resulted in more of these type games. The NFL is healthy again. Points put fannies in the seats. I love the new game.

Well, I mean, it’s either them or the Saints, with the Bears being a wildcard to take down both, NFC-wise.

Wow if this game was this year's S B.

BTW, Bears might have an injured Trubisky. Reports that he has throwing shoulder injury. Saw it on the crawl. No details.

The Saints defense is getting a little better each week. I would put them as the favorite right now. The KC defense did a good job of stopping Gurley last night. They couldn't slow down the Rams passing attack.

I'm too old school to want to see the NFL turn completely into what we watched last night. Here and there it's fun, but not every week. The Purple People Eaters were fun too. Will high scoring affairs cut back on the major injuries that plague the league? I'm not sure. Funny though that when the game was on the line, the Ram's D had 2 picks.

Yeah for as much money and draft picks that they have invested into the Defense it sure hasn't been all that great.

Im hoping the bye helps. Getting Talib back is a boon. Hopefully the bye helps Peters get healthy and gets his head on straight. Im comfortable with Phillips making adjustments.

Doesn’t matter what their defense does or does not do...offense alone makes them a championship contender. Even the Cardinals made it to the big game in 08 with the most god awful D

Wade's defense is based on their corners playing on an island. Peters and Talib were supposed to provide that but both have been hurt. I expect the defense will improve if Talib comes back healthy. Peters has been showing gradual improvement as he gets back to health too. Yeah, he's been burned a lot this year but he wasn't meant to be facing all the guys that he's faced. With Talib, Peters and Shields all healthy that backfield will be much better down the stretch.

Suh's name hasn't been called much but I don't think he hasn't been worth signing. He's allowing Donald to have a career year. Without Suh(who I think is a creep and can't stand), I don't think Donald has all the pressures and sacks that he has.

Gurley was playing injured after his ankle got rolled somewhat early in the game. He was used mostly as a decoy in the 2nd half. A for our defense, we get Aqib Talib back after the bye. I think we will see a significant improvement in the Rams defense vs the Lions and afterwards.

This would mean beating the Saints. Something the Rams couldn't do.

Rams have not had a bye until this week to heal up, and the Saints had one prior to the game. Saints won and congrats, but the Rams stormed back to tie, in the Super Dome, 35-35 when most teams would have just quit. The Saints have to keep up with the Rams, and the Rams have n easier schedule down the homestretch, which most likely means a home playoff, if the Saints make it that far. If all that works out for the Saints, they will be facing a much improved defense, and Sean McVay has never lost to a team he has schemed against, twice, Super Dome or not.

I like our chances,

I can’t put stock into this.

Basically played against average/bad division opponents.

We beat the Chargers, Seahawks twice, Minnesota, and the Chiefs. That's 50% of our total of wins. As for playing against "average/bad divisional opponents, it's dang hard to beat 10 NFL teams/games unless you are a great team, and our only loss was to the 2nd best team in the NFL!

Yea, but that just came off that McVay has never lost to the same team twice. And well...the only teams he has played against twice are divisional opponents, though I did forget about Minnesota.
