After reading the article about his 10th season in a row with 200 hits, I wondered if he belonged in the hall.

What do you guys think?

Absolutely. In addition to his offensive stats he's racked up 9 or 10 Gold Glove awards also. Short of a betting scandal (or something like that) he is about as close to a sure thing as you'll ever see.

Ya, I take it back. As long as he doesn't become fat and worthless like Tony Gwynn, I wouldn't mind seeing him play for my teams.

Tony Gwynn was a pure hitter, despite his less than perfect physique. Just as Jackie Robinson was an outstanding hitter and baserunner with his less than perfect physique.

I'm wondering why in the world you would call Tony Gwynn, Sr., worthless, now that he is retired.

Tony Gwynn is the head coach of the San Diego State Aztecs baseball teams.

Gwynn is often considered to be one of the greatest "pure hitters" ever to play the game, completing his career with a lifetime .338 batting average and 3141 hits.

In 2007, he was elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame along with Cal Ripken, Jr. In 9,288 career at-bats, Gwynn only struck out 434 times and never finished a full season with an average below .309.
