OT: improved helmet designs for other teams

I thought some folks might enjoy checking out a graphic artist's suggestions for improved helmet designs for the Redskins, Buccaneers, and Patriots:

I think the Redskins design is a big improvement, but i would've gone without the white stripes and maybe without the yellow one.

I LOVE the Buccaneers design.

As many commenters have suggested, the Patriots design is a bit too reminiscent of Evel Knievel, but it is bold and, i think, improves on the current design. The blue appears to be too light. I would've gone with fewer stripes and perhaps placed the stars in an arc, as on the 13-star flag from Revolutionary times.

FTA:

I guess the Cleveland Browns score highest. They use no logo at all but why do the Browns have orange helmets?

Ten seconds worth of research would have revealed that the Browns aren't named after the color brown.

hmmmmmmmmmm ... I like the current Cards Logo -- I still like the old logo!

That's exactly right. In that sense it looks more Vegas than New England.

The Bucs logo suggestion has the problem of being even more reminiscent of the Raiders than the current one, which Al Davis already protested for the same reason. Now, take that for what it's worth from Davis, but it's not totally off base.

The Redskins, well, I know this is another argument, but I do feel like there are larger issues at play... Still, I'm not convinced that this new design would be that much easier to see on television. Certainly not like the Rams, Eagles, and Vikings.

That Patriots helmet is garbo.

Bucs one is the best of the bunch.

A bit indifferent on the Redskins one, but like devilalum, I think their Spear helmet is the best.

That's EXACTLY what I thought. In fact, I thought it looked just like the one this guy wore in the 70's made-for-TV movies, but I was wrong.

I actually really liked the Redskins' re-design, though. But I would have gotten rid of the center stripe and actually included the headband portion of the headdress as it was sketched out.

The bucs' was just okay.

They talked about this on uniwatch. Anyone ever read Paul Lukas' blog at uniwatchblog.com? It's pretty damn interesting (especially the preview articles for each major sport and college football/basketball). Redskins helmet is fine (although i do like the spear helmet). The others? Not so much.

In my Fundamentals of Finance course at ASU back in 1998, my professor would ask a random question at the end of each class. One day he asked why the Cardinals were named the Cardinals. Someone brought up the typical response and was told he was correct.

So, of course, I had to email the professor later that day to explain the real story, sources and everything. At the beginning of the next class, he read my email aloud to the entire class (and to the other sections of the course earlier in the week). He admitted that he was wrong and I was right, but there were a lot of "how the _ did you know that?" and "you have too much time on your hands" comments. Ah, the life of a Cardinal fan back in the day. LOL.

The redskins helmet is very cool. Never happen, but very cool.

Guy's the only new Helmet design that I would like is the one which can stop the players from getting brain injuries. END OF STORY...!!!
