I like the premise of the Redskins re-design but the overall product didn't quite make it. I like the head dress motif though and as someone mentioned, it might have looked better without the yellow stripe down the middle. Very close though.

The Buccaneers was also a good idea but turned out poorly. That skull is just plain bad. Put a better skull between the swords and it would be fine.

The Patriots one is a bit too unconventional. I have no problem with the stars & stripes design element but this design just didn't work.

P.S. There were some really cool USFL helmets so that is a bad comparison IMO. As was posted, the Gamblers were cool looking as hell. Hated the team but they looked sharp. Kelly's gunslinger approach and high scoring offense was perfect for them.

EDIT: oops, I confused the Outlaws with the Gamblers.

Thanks for the link.

All the Pats and Bucs have to do is go back to Pat The Patriot, and the Creamsicle Buccaneer. Problem Solved.

The redskins helmet is very cool. Never happen, but very cool.

Agreed with Pat the Patriot.

Not sure I like the "gay buccaneer" look but it is better than the new idea.

The redskins' idea only makes the team's moniker more of an affront to native americans

I think the thing that gets to native americans most is the team is called the "Redskins" more than any of the iconography that's associated with it.

Call them the "warriors" and used the spear or the headdress and I don't think you'd hear much about it.

Last time I heard, Indians don't care about the name of the team. Non-Indians who think it's offensive to Indians are the one's who make the most noise about it.

The Washington Redskins (3-6) are struggling this season, but the organization got a break Monday after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected an appeal from Native Americans calling the pro club's trademark "disparaging."

Among the plaintiffs is Suzan Shown Harjo of Washington, a Cheyenne/Hodulgee Muscogee and a longtime advocate for Native American rights.
