I agree with this... though I still think eventually he will get in, a la Cris Carter. Comparing this MLB, Q would be characterized as a "compiler", where he ends up with solid numbers largely due to the amount of time he played in the league... never great... never league-leading... But when you add it all up in the end, his numbers are compelling...

Carter played in a different era, but he also had 8 Pro Bowls and 2 first-team all Pros and 6 seasons of double-digit TDs. 6 straight seasons over 1000 yards, and two seasons with 1200+ yards when he was 34 and 35!

Carter was better than Anquan Boldin.

Agreed... I guess I was simply comparing the path Carter took to get into the HoF and how I can see Boldin getting in...

Q absolutely deserves to go in.. if anyone remembers those Baltimore playoff games, it seemed Flacco would ignore Q most of the game, then when it was on the line, boom to Q, boom to Q, just driving it down the field when they absolutely had to have a drive... that seemed to happen every year ... and anyway, he deserves to go in just for returning so quickly with a broken face... that's enough for me right there

Really?

I wonder how Dockett didn't end up "getting rid of himself" ? Pulled the same crap, and the organization seemed to be able to look past it. So, sorry not buying it.

BTW - I do agree, Boldin did act like a baby, just saying that is no excuse for letting him walk. Especially when the money went to sign guys like Adam Snyder and Daryn Colledge.

Boldin didn't want to stay. Creating a side show when your team just qualified for the SuperBowl was a signal he had zero interest in staying with the team. Despite all that, the team did him a solid by trading him to a a SB contender.

Having a meltdown and creating a distraction with the offensive coordinator on the sidelines during the most important drive in franchise history was unforgivable. Then leaving the stadium with his agent rather then celebrate going to the SUPER BOWL was the nail in the coffin for me ever seeing him the same way.

Who votes players in the HoF?

If it's fellow players, Mr. Football, the Man Child, Anquan Boldin, will wear a jacket and have a bust in Canton.

It's not just the numbers, but all the other attributes he brings to the game... He was the first receiver to really take blocking to the next level. Don't forget things like that.

He's hurt by the fact that 6 out of 7 years as a Cardinal he was lining up alongside Fitzgerald. Most non-Cardinals fans don't remember his tantrum at the NFC championship game, but his Super Bowl run that year isn't that remembered anyway, because Fitzgerald takes up all the air.

No.

Very good player, tough SOB but IMO doesn't have the perception of being a HOF player. You rarely hear the commentators or media pump his name for the Hall.

If Q doesn't get in, I riot. Feel free to join.

While his regular season and post-season receiving statistics speak for themselves, what is missing is how great of a blocker he has been throughout his career. In a League littered with barely adequate WR blocking, Q stands above all the rest with the possible exception of Hines Ward. Hopefully the HOF voters remember this at crunch time.

I think Boldin was a great WR but sits right on the edge of being a Hall of Fame WR but I will say this... if freaking Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt both eventually get in, then Boldin better damn well get in along with Fitzgerald who we already know will be a Hall of Famer, and that is gospel according to the word of Q :)

Bruce was elite before the GSOT with some terrible QB's. He should be in but his lack of personality doesn't separate him from the other greats of the era.

NFL Records

  • Most receptions in a rookie season: 101
  • Most receiving yards in first career game: 217
  • Most receptions in the first 26 games of an NFL career: 157
  • Fastest to record 200 career receptions (in 34 games)
  • Fastest to record 300 career receptions (in 47 games)
  • Fastest to record 400 career receptions (in 67 games)
  • Fastest to record 500 career receptions (in 80 games)
He was the fastest to 600 for many years until Antonio Brown recently broke that.

If there's this much debate over his HoF candidacy, it likely means he's either not going into the HoF or he'll be one of the guys who waits 20-30 years after he's eligible to get in.

Mmm, they should change the formula

Sportwriters fans coaches and hall of fame players should vote
25% each
The moment that fan voting is allowed for the HOF, is the time it would cease to mean a damn thing! SMH.

I would think probably not.

You have to understand theres a huge log jam. As guys like Q are waiting, theres guys behind him retiring, possibly with better numbers. And so they need to go in first, and behind them theres more guys, etc.

Thats the reason theres 2nd committee for guys who played in 1948 still getting inducted, because lots of guys like Q get squashed down and forgotten.

Will Q ever be a HOFr? possibly, but it wont be for 15+ years. But very unlikely.

I have zero credibility in this thread, because I am a HUGE Anquan Boldin fan.

If I am running the HOF ? He is in, 1st ballot.

If I am picking a roster, that I can build a team with any player from NFL history ? Boldin is my slot guy. Wide receiver hands, and route running, blocks better than most tight ends, in his prime he was a threat to take it the distance after the catch, and is just a fierce competitor and great all around football player.

.......but he wasn't as good as Steve Smith in his prime....I do have that sorted out. LOL
