102 degrees and 60% humidity - feels like 115

Worst part about it is that the electrical system is on the verge of failing and we could have a blackout

God I love NY :)

LOL! Yeah, is sucks here, too. Heard it was over 90 last night in NYC. (Was 85 here when I went to sleep.) Humidity sucks.

Am hoping we get the "shut down the university" call from the state in order to conserve energy. I definitely feel a northeast blackout coming on between yesterday heat, today's monstrocity and tomorrow's predicted high temps.

Just an average August day here in Texas. Except the humidity would be higher.

I'm not complaining, just stating the facts.

BTW, I live in the southern part of the state so that would require me going up to Asbury Park, not down. :p

Sweet. I want to go to Asbury Park and run into Bruce Springsteen.

Do Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen really just hang out all over the place??

Jon Bon Jovi is around a lot since he's part owner of the Philadelphia Soul. He is really a super guy and does a lot for the community.

Springsteen pops into Asbury Park and local clubs unannounced every once in a while and just starts jamming.

115 seems to happen once a week in Arizona, but only once or twice a summer in NY.

Give me NY weather anyday.

it is the humidity that kills you - not the temp. i would take 115 in Phx over 90 and 90 in NYC

NYC gets a little bit hotter because of what I like to call "city heat" - throw in the humidity, all the concrete and steel of the building, the fact that people have to still be en mass on the streets, trains, etc - the fact that there are still a lot of people who live in walkups, etc and the city isn't built for the heat, it can get brutal

however, on the whole I'd take an NYC summer over a phoenix summer 100% of the time

One thing about Phoenix, is when it gets nasty (hot and humid) we know the summer is half over. In NYC, next week it will be better where as us Valley of the Sun members will endure two to three more months before relief.

I feel for you guys as the most miserable I ever had it was in Chicago at 95 degrees and 89 percent humidity. Thought I was going to die.

I always get a chuckle when someone says I'm going to hell because I thought I already feel it 6 of 12 months a year.

Jeff G wasn't complaining because his mouse melted.

Actually, I just got off the treadmill (I felt guilty about using the wattage, but rationalized that it's for medical reasons - i.e. per doctor's orders - to maintain my weight and keep my heart from attacking me).

So long as the "electricity gods" don't betray us (or if we have access to a car with gas and AC), we'll be OK. Problem is in poorer areas with no car, no AC and the elderly.

Big thing is to stay loose - it's a wet heat.

I grew up in NJ and have lived here in AZ for the past 10 yrs. I HATE the humidity! It's hard to explain but they are both completely different kinds of heat. Humidity is miserable and ya feel weighted down and always wet. Here in PHX when it's 118 it stings and you lose fluids so quickly, you can get dizzy before ya know it.
Still all in all I prefer 118 day in Phx over a 100 degree 99% humidity day in NJ

It is sizzling out here in Western Kentucky too. Yesterday A high school kid collapsed after football practice in Henderson Kentucky. He died on the way to the hospital
