All you folks in AZ. Feel smug in your 75 degree sunshine.

In the Greater NYC/Philly area we are facing an early-season snowstorm with amounts projected at 6 - 15 inches.

We're socked in for the duration and ain't goin' nowhere. Fortunately, we laid in an ample supply of Anchor Steam and a good Harry Bosch paperback, are thawing out the chili and will cook a rib roast tonight.

And assuming the satellite dish doesn't gork out on us, there's always Sooners vs. K-State, the NJ Devils vs. Ottawa and, late tomorrow night - Boise State (Dinwittie, baby!) vs. Hawaii.

And by the time the Niner game comes on the next day, we should be pretty much shoveled out.

LOL!

Yeah, it's snowing pretty good here, at least according to us that don't live in DENVER! :) Was hoping for a day off or early dismissal. We'll see. Will definitely hit the beer store, movie place and pizza shop before heading home. Being snowed in is a good reason for being lazy!

They're all concerned about the Eagles game on Sunday. Eagles fans, snow and the Cowboys. Bad mix.

And will there be Santa at the Eagle game Sunday to give fans someone to throw snowballs at?

Yeah, it's startin to slow down a little though. I'll tell you one thing though. Us Philadelphians have a penchant for over reacting when it comes to snow. I went to Giant market last night to get some soda, and the line was all the way to the bakery section! At 1AM!! People were racking up like we were facing the blizzard of 93'! 3 inches people, is not enough to go into a panic! This snow will probably be gone by midnight with the projected rain.

That looks like the Schukhyll Expressway!

Yeah, Philly Card. Gotta say that the people around here are wack at the supermarket when snow hits. Like we can't get out of our homes for days or something. ARMAGEDON!

Jeff, we actually envy you. We need snow and rain very badly in both the desert and the mountains.

My insurance co. is so worried about the drought, they are sending forest fire experts to evaluate the fire danger on every property they insure in the area where my cabin is built. If I don't cut down the many trees they tell me to, they'll drop my coverage.

Still snowing

It is gonna get bad!

Lots of little tiny flakes! I learned in Earth Science that small flakes means it will snow for a long time and big flake (like Jeff Blake:D ) means it will snow for a short time

Peace

"Snow" is the price you pay to be a Canadian... Oops! I mean an American...

Skkorp - Know where you're coming from regarding the White Mountains and the so-called federal "Healthy Forests" program (calling for the clear cutting of forests to "save them."). Maybe you'll have to steal a page from our Kentucky bootlegging brethren, pull out the old 12-gauger and make a stand vs. the chain-saw guys (and the insurance companies who love them).

We have a stand of beech trees at the top of our hill with huge root systems that suck up huge quantities of water and then release it gradually into the stream that forms our rear property line.

Despite lots of rain during the past year or so, the root system (and stream) are still at deficit due to a very serious draught that occurred 4 or 5 years ago.

Snow will help. (Just don't have it fall "in my backyard.")

Being back in AZ after living in NYC I MISS the snow and cold weather :(

It still feels weird to be here in December and walk around in shorts.

That's somethig I never understood, saving the forests by clear-cutting them. Doesn't that kind of eliminate the forest altogether??

Sounds more like a wives tale to me. We get extended storms all the time with HUGE flakes. Particularly in the mountains and foothills.
