OT: James Harrison rejects sons' participation trophies

There is a reasonable balance to all this. Participation trophy's are fine for small children who are just starting out in organized sports. But after they hit 7 or 8 years old, those should go away as they are being prepared for the next step in the real world.

Well winner trophies didn't exactly turn out well for the "I got mine" boomers who currently run the show. So maybe trophies aren't how we should teach values to kids either way.

In a meritocracy, everything in life is a trophy- from your income, to your spouse, to you house, your car, your college, your toys. It teaches people to strive for the best if you do it right.
