Apparently the Hall of Fame, now run by former Arena Football League commissioner, who IMO, ran the league into the ground, is opening up inductions to about 20 next year. I have mixed feelings about this. #1, I think it's a bad idea because, quite frankly, the bust room isn't that big(don't know who here has been there but the HOF is not a big building). #2, this will make the Hall of Fame the Hall of the Very Good because some who are undeserving might get in. That said, there are several players, coaches, and contributors who belong in the Hall of Fame. For example, Tom Flores. How he's not in the HOF is mind boggling. This guy coached the Raiders to 2 Super Bowl wins with Jim Plunkett at QB. Speaking of which, how is Plunkett not in the Hall? 2 Super Bowl wins isn't enough? Especially 2 wins as underdogs and won convincingly both games. Other borderline players, coaches, contributors are:

Jimmy Johnson
Steve Sabol
Jim Marshall
Ken Anderson
Conrad Dobler(how he's never mentioned is, frankly, politics)
Roger Craig

Just to name a few but they're going to let in a lot of fringe players by opening it up to 20 people. What do you all think?

Anyone want to join me in nominating some Cards? Fans can by either emailing or mailing nominees into the HOF directly. I'm going to nominate Jim Hart, Conrad Dobler, Roy Green, Adrian Wilson, Tim McDonald, OJ Anderson.

Night Train Lane is already in. Fun Fact: He still holds the record for INT's in a season with 14...in an era when they only played 12 games.

I will be happy with Larry Fitzgerald and Kurt Warner. We are the Cardinals. Not far enough east to be close to ESPN headquarters and were a flyover state franchise until 1988. Part of the fun is the lack of respect

Only nickname better than "Night Train*" was LG ("Long Gone") Dupree.

* Note - "Night Train" was an old R&B instrumental standby made famous by tenor sax player, Jimmy Forrest.

My favorite version ever was by the late, great Oscar Peterson:

Ah, Yes.

Another good rendition was by Rusty Bryant & his Carolyn Club Band out of Columbus, O.

Jimmy Forrest eventually moved to Hard Bop at a time when boppers looked down down their noses at one-note honking tenormen. I caught a Forrest set at Birdland where they made him play Night Train.
