THIS JUST IN: Lakers expect Kobe Bryant to miss rest of the season with torn rotator cuff. (via @ramonashelburne)
I do wonder if this is the end for him. He has $24 million reasons to come back next season so we'll see.

If this indeed is all she wrote for him, it'll be one of the strongest retirement classes in NBA history. Nash, Kobe, KG, Marion, Allen, and maybe Terry.

I found this odd.

There's still significant belief within Lakers that Bryant will need season-ending surgery, but final decision could sit through weekend.
Why wait? Just get the surgery done.

He might still want to play in the ASG since it may be his last. Probably mulling over whether can play in it or not.

Those around Kobe say he is definitively coming back to play next season. Doesn't want to go out like this.

Source: Kobe will also be active in free-agent recruiting for the Lakers, including pitches to possible future teammates in July.

Oh the irony. The year he blows his Achilles he did so after LA clinched a playoff spot costing us a Top 5 pick. Now he goes down for the season increasing LA's likihood of landing inside the Top 5 which would cost us another lottery pick.

Funny, as long as Therapist Kome is around no good free agents are going there.

Prediction: the Lakers keep their pick this year but next year the Suns get #4.

Prediction: the Suns finish the season in a 4 way tie for 6th place and miss the playoffs by virtue of a tiebreaker but get lucky in the lottery. Jumping into 1st place drops the Lakers to 6th and we trade that pick and an asset for the number 2 pick to go along with our own number 1. We select Okafor first and Stanley Johnson with our next pick. Kobe talks their GM into shipping next year's unprotected pick and Randle to us for Gerald Green (right away) and immediately begins to recruit Beasley and Hakim Warrick to join them next season.

I know but I figured if you're going to make a prediction about the future it might as well be one you can live with (happily I might add). And if you're going to make a prediction about the past, you're a very smart person.

Oh I could live with that too. Maybe I should get another degree but this time in History. :D
