The Detroit Lions have decided against using the franchise tag on defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.

Suh was one of the more intriguing options for using the tag, because doing so would have meant spending close to $26.9 million to tie him up for the 2015 season with no guarantee of a long-term deal.

Ndamukong Suh is set to become an unrestricted free agent if the Lions can't sign him to a long-term deal before March 10.
The Lions faced such a high number on Suh's franchise-tag option because of contract restructures that left him with a cap number of $22.4 million for the 2014 season. That is what escalated the tag number to such a high amount.

He has all of the leverage in negotiations with the Lions. They can't afford a 26M franchise tag. No one could really.

I think he goes to the higgest bidder.

Maybe Jacksonville or the Raiders.

Someone with a lot of cash to spend looking to make a big splash to appease the fan base.

Perfect fit for the Raiders who can then take top wr in draft either Amari Cooper or Kevin White.

For those linking the #Raiders to, well, every possible free agent… let me not stop you. They will spend. A lot.

I can't imagine any other franchise would accept his issues and pay him what he wants other than the Raiders.

Yeah, $26.9m for someone who isn't a premier quarterback seems expensive.

How would this compare to what Rodgers and Brady make?

What are you basing that on? Just because he was a bust?

Reggie White is a better comparison because both were great players and had great motors.
