I mean wow! No wonder Sean Payton decided to step away.

What a mess!!!

It's going to take a massive effort just to try and get under the cap. They are going to have to restructure everyone and move a ton of money into future years somehow. It's going to be a mess for years.

They'll manage to do it and sign a bunch of high dollar free agents in the process. Every team (except us) seems to find ways to circumnavigate the cap every year.

They have no qb they have to go rebuilding
Some trade and cuts must to be made, they can't rework all of them
Some contracts there are awkward

The problem is that they can't cut any of their big name guys with the big contracts. They wouldn't save anything if they did. In some cases if they cut them it would add to the cap hell.

They will probably tank, draft a QB high next year and build over.

They'll basically have to restructure the entire roster...that is nuts.

They just need to accept the down year. Trade everyone they can get value for and cut the rest. Fill their roster with rookie contracts and vet minimum players.
It's not a bad year for it. WR and trenches have depth in this draft so they can fill those spots and get them some experience while they go 0-17... then draft their qb next year and the guys around him are young but have some experience.
First game of the season they can hand out gifts at the gate,.... paper bags with a glittered flour de list and the words "we're back" printed on them.

they can do the old "convert salary to bonus" thing for all the younger guys

its can kicking, but it works

older guys like Malcolm Jenkins likely get cut

and then its garage sale time: on the OTC thing, note how the cap savings really change when you toggle from "cut pre June 1" to "trade pre June 1"

Bradley Roby is a guy to keep an eye on: he is basically now on a one year (2022) $10mm contract. NO saves 1/7 of what they need if they trade him.
