How ironic for Pat Riley!

J.O'neal's contract isn't expiring, it ends next year. This guy is making more money than our O'neal, 21M this season and 23M next!

Our O'neal is doing 21 + 10, 2 assists and 2bocks in Dec and Jan, and 70% FT. If I were Riley, I would need a full bottle of vodka to sleep every night.

Source? Everything I see online has the JO being a FA after this season.

Why? Banks wasn't getting any playing time and Marion has brought nothing to that team offensively or defensively.

It's not much of a gamble for Miami. If JO is healthy (which is a big if), they get a legit Center out of the deal. If he is not healthy, they really don't lose much.

I was basing it of MIA taking on JO's salary next year, which is incorrect.

This trade is pretty much a win/win.

Miami is #5 in the East standing I believe despite not have a legit center. You put a healthy JO in the lineup I think that really improves your team. Worst case scenario JO comes off the books 2010. They have more then enough players to fill Marion's production at SF and lose zero in banks.

This is a win win for Miami no matter what IMO because even if JO is not healthy your not losing anything in the trade that you can't make up for with current players on your roster. However, if JO is healthy I think they become legit contendors in the East for the entire thing.

A legit chance to beat the celtics cavs or magic in a 7 games series? LOL! How about a legit chance to get into the second round in the leastern conference. there might be 7 teams in the west that can say the same thing IF they were in the east.

How about do a comparation between J.O'neal to Shaq.O'neal? Miami did a horrible deal on Shaq which they will regret for years. This new deal just made them looked even worse. LOL.

I think they could contend in the East. All it takes is a team to get hot in the playoffs and anything can happen. Do I think they are better then the Celtics? No, ofcourse not.

However, they were not even contenders before this trade.
