Actually, my dad is somewhat of a badass. I'd be willing to bet, sight unseen, that he could hold his own. ;)

Give or take a year here and there, I was there the same time. Remember the convicted murdered who went to the law school at that time?

Yeah, vaugely (but then, everything from those years are a little hazy). Big hubbub.

Remember Six East Lounge?
Heck yeah. One time we were in there doing a little afternoon imbibing (BIM?) and someone said, "you know what would make this afternoon complete? A cigar." Within 5 minutes some guy came in who'd just had a baby and handed out cigars. That place is magical I tell ya.

Our main hangout was Murphy's Irish pub, which for a while was called "the All-New Oxbow." before it became Murphy's, we used to think it was a gay bar because it was right next to the porn shop and it just looked weird. But, we lived right there off of McClintock and Apache, so it was really close. Great hangout, we got to know the bartender and most of the regulars (like Roger, who was English, but for some reason he says he was kicked out of the UK). Then it was voted "best local pub" or something by the Westword and overnight it became the hip place to be. We showed up one night and suddenly it was 3 deep at the bar and Tony (the bartender) throws a ten spot at us and yells, "Quick, play some Pogues before these bastards play Metallica again!"

Good times. Good times.

(BTW, I don't know if Murphy's is still there or not, but it used to have a pogues album in the juke --Rum, Sodomy and the Lash, I think--that said "donated by Dan Hampton." that's my buddy, and that's my CD that he took from my house and gave to the bar.)

Had a coupon in the state press for giganto burrito for $2.50. Six East got leveled a few years ago. I miss two pesos. The nachos were great.

ASU MBA Class of 2004. I have found myself quite torn rooting for the Sun Devils this season.
