Is he no longer head coaching material? A couple of years ago he was interviewing for all kinds of jobs but the last 2 seasons he's not even been mentioned and other coordinators are getting hired. What gives?

I think the way he handled not getting the HC job here and publicly calling out the ownership was his demise. I think it's funny how we were so scared of Todd Bowles coming over after the tragic Eagles defense, but Arians wouldn't come here unless he was able to bring him along.

I can't believe how much success he has had in the last three years as a DC and now HC while Horton's defenses have been hot garbage.

Well, the franchises he's worked for have been hot garbage.

Browns HC Hue Jackson targeting Tennessee's Ray Horton as his DC, but uncertain whether Titans will grant permission to leave, per source.

What about Russ Grimm? LOL He went from HC interviews to being out of coaching since 2012.

Horton proved himself to be immature and not fitting material for a head coach at the NFL level.

As was our own defense before he came here.

But that was due to the system and not the players. We had talent by the time Horton got here. Davis' last year as DC, this was our starting defense:

CC
Dockett
Bryan Robinson
Joey Porter
Darryl Washington
Paris Lenon
Clark Haggins
DRC
Greg Toler
AW
Kerry Rhodes

That year they ranked 30th in points and 29th in yards. The very next year under Horton, after the addition of PP and Dan Williams as a starter they jumped to 17th in overall defense. There were only minor changes but under a better coach the defense improved markedly. Billy Davis sucked as a coach and he even went and destroyed a decent Eagles defense this year so it was the system and not the players.

I can remember the melt down around here by some posters when Horton wasn't hired. It was ridiculous at the time.

It shows that it rarely is smart to listen to players...they have skewed opinions.

Agree. Us fans know way better.

lol...I would argue that at least fans are focused on the team's success whereas every player I have known has been concerned with his own. It isn't that they aren't team players, but they are concerned with how moves affect them.

Example. Fitz didn't want to work out of the slot, so he resisted Arians attempt to move him there. However, once Palmer got on board, Arians showed some results, Fitz made the uncomfortable move and now has done very well. It isn't that Fitz isn't a team guy, but his concern was how the moves would affect him. Fans just wanted to get Fitz more involved so the Cardinals could justify keeping him. Moving to the slot did that so fans were quicker to jump on the idea.

I guess you are agreeing with me? I'm confused.

DD ended hc chance for Horton - I said it then - nobody believed me- DD ignored Horton and then spit in a card player face- how many hc coaches have moments like that? From the defense they are coordinating?
