I mean, if I were Rex Ryan, I'd cut him after todays game and here's why:

First, he catches a pass, gets hit, fumbles, and the Eagles take it to the house. Then on another play, he has a very catchable ball go through his hands and gets intercepted. The Eagles scored on the drive after this. Then the straw that breaks the camels back; down 28-3 and literally getting their butts kicked, the Jets finally score a TD and it was Holmes who scores and what does he do now down 28-9? He goes to the back of the endzone and mocks the Eagles by flapping his arms and gets flagged for taunting. Really guy? You're getting owned in a game where you are directly responsible for 14 of the 28 points scored by your opponents and you're going to act like an asshat? If I were Rex Ryan, I would have benched him at that point and tomorrow morning, give him his walking papers.

No, he just doesn't have the brain capacity to realize that when you're down 28-9, taunting the other team isn't a smart thing to do. It reminded me of a very young Larry Centers in a game against Washington in 1990. We're down 31-0 late in the game and he laid a guy out on a special teams tackle and started flexing his muscles. Well, every Redskin on the field went up to him and pointed to the scoreboard.

I wish the Cards would cut Roberts. He's a disaster as well, but at least he's not as bad as you describe Holmes above....

Holmes has been getting killed on local sports-talk radio (WFAN in NYC) all day. They're even getting on Ryan for not having the sack to bench him after the flag.

Francesa even talked about how these idiots should look at a guy like Larry Fitz for how to act after a big play or a score. To paraphrase, "not only is he far and above the best receiver in the game, he doesn't act like an idiot after a big play!"

Francesa, on the other hand IS an idiot, but it's nice to hear NY folks talking up Fitz.

It just blew my mind watching this guy taunt the team that had a 19 point lead on his team at the time of the TD. I mean, there is brainless and there is brainless.

DEI, are you serious? What's wrong with Roberts?

Dead serious.

The dude has more drops and deflections than any of our defensive backs, let alone our WRs. I know he's gotten open for a TD in the last two games, but look at the rest of those games. The dude is terrible and it is frustrating to watch him. In the spirit of this thread, at least he's not a jackass like Holmes though....

I just thought about it - maybe the answer is not to cut Roberts, but to convert him to a nickel CB. At least his drops and deflections would actually count on the stat sheet and he'd be in for a big payday....

I could have sworn that was Mark Smith, not Larry Centers...
