OT: Seattle trades for Marshawn Lynch.

According to Jay Glazer.

Nice pickup by Seattle. Division is wide open. If the 49ers win on Sunday, I'd think they are the favorite, unless Max Hall really shows something vs. the Saints.

I honestly believe that the Niners can still win the division. They still have 5 more division games to go and they'll probably win 2 against us. :(

Don't count them out. They are tough at home and 3 of their first 4 games were on the road. With a little luck they could have been 2 & 2.

So the starting RBs in the NFCW are Stephen Jackson, Frank Gore, Marshawn Lynch and... Timmy Hightower.

Yeah, but we have the best #2 RB in the division, if not the entire league.

Kind of a dumb trade for seattle, they have already have leon washington, justin forsett, and julius jones. The problem with their run game is not the backs its the line. Besides, forsett has to be better than lynch or atleast better looking...

They cut Julius Jones to make room for Lynch.

Marshawn Lynch is a better RB than those 3 combined. Dont see how this was dumb in anyway.

Should be interesting... IIRC, we handled Lynch pretty well back in '08... Based upon what I've seen thus far this season, look for Lynch to go for two bills when we play the Hawks later this year!!

Those guys--with the exception of Washington (queue animation), who is not an every-down back--are not good players at this level. Lynch is (both a good player AND an every-down back).

Seattle just got quite a bit better on offense, IMO. Wish we'd played them without Lynch.

They didn't have a power runner, Washington and Forsett are more like 3rd down backs, out of the backfield, smaller and faster. Jones used to be sort of a power runner but he seems to have really fallen off.

Lynch is a very tough physical runner. If he has straightened out his off field issues this is a steal of a pickup. He's getting a career best 4.4 YPC so far this year on a bad team with a bad OL, and they were trying to play 3 RB's(like Seattle was) and so the carries came in spurts.

My biggest fear as a Lynch fan would be that Pete Carroll might be the exact wrong coach for a guy like him. Lynch is trying to resurrect his career, he needs a coach who's going to be tough on him, not one who has a history of running a "discipline optional" team like he did at USC or in his prior NFL jobs. One of the reasons so many kids at USC got in trouble while Pete was there was the environment of look the other way Pete put in there, the NCAA specifically cited that when they nailed USC.

Lynch doesn't need a coach who's going to overlook things because he's a good player, he needs someone to be tough on him.

But if Lynch is right in the head he's a very good player and he's only 24 years old.

Let's see. Seattle acquired Lynch. The Vikings are getting Moss and another team fired its special team's coach. Can we trade the Cardinals for another team and another set of coaches?

You can trade the Cards in anytime you want. In fact now is as good a time as any. Come back and visit when we play the team you aquired. We can talk about old times.
