What makes it all too easy to believe even without the video is that from the start of the game Smith was taunting Davis. It was really clear that he felt he could get in his head, and he did. I don't condone what he did, neither did Haley after it happened Haley warned him to knock it off and pulled him for a bit.

But apparently Davis' reputation was you could talk him out of his game and Smith was doing just that before the crotch grab.

Never wore a cup in my life.No one around me either would even know what one looked like.Sorry no baseball guys when your life has been football.

But I've been kicked,kneed,and purposely grabbed till my eyes almost popped out many times.

Boys will be boys.Will never divulge if I ever slipped into that type of tactic before in my playing career.

Football pants are even made much differently in this modern age.You had certain players you knew were going to find a time to seek revenge from past games.We would talk amoungst our family as O-Lineman live together.We even sit in order on the bench.Its just who we are.

We would have our partners get revenge for us all the time.Ball bounty's if you will.I'm old and said too much already.I did'nt read this article above.Just imagineing.Takes me back.I've privately shed a tear before but No One EVER knew it.Maybe my eyes just leaked.Yeah thats better.

this is a little off topic but, years back a sun devil stadium at a cowgirls game my seats where behind the cowgirls bench. right before the game jerry jones was standing down in front of us. i yelled out "hey jerry where is jimmy" he looked up at us and then grabbed his crotch and started shaking it! well needless to say he had everybody in the stands laughing. he was even laughing and then walked away. i thought that way very funny for an owner to do something like that. people started saying well he shut you up!!! ahh sundevil stadium, i don't miss it at all.

I never wore a cup playing football, was too hard to run in them. Got punched and helmets to the junk more times than I would like to count, but it was always something I new could happen.

Have you ever played football? Do you know how impossible it is to run with a cup or what chafing you get? I played a lot of sports as a kid and the only time I ever saw anyone (myself included) wear a cup was as a baseball catcher.

Yea... I played. All the way thru high school. Always wore a cup - as did the entire team. Never was up for debate as that's just the way it was. No chafing. No issues running. And trust me, we had a QB on our team who certainly showed no ill effects from wearing a cup...

I remember reading a story one time about this problem. This was back in the old days. They were talking about how u as spectators never knew what really went on at the bottom of the piles. I guess it was not uncommon for crotch grabbing to occur. One player's remedy for this was to urinate himself so that no one would want to grab him. I know it is gross but just relaying a story.

In HS I heard someones ankle snap in a pile because earlier in the game that person had speared a teamate. Player just decided to get back at him and twist till it hurt, just went too far....but ya so much goes on in the bottom of piles.

As far as the urinating story, our RB used to never wash his compression shorts or undershirt and after the summer two a days here in AZ he smelled like....well a smell that I will never forget. Needless to say when people piled on top of him they got off quick, it just burned your nose almost instantly, always tried to stand at the other end of the huddle from him.
