Since I didn't get to see much of the game on Sunday, I watched the 10 minute highlight reel on NFLNetwork on demand and what they do is show you different plays in the game with the home team's radio broadcast and I have to say that I have never heard bigger homers than Wise, Jurgensen, and Huff. I swear every play you hear Jugernsen yelling about a Cardinal defender holding or doing some other nefarious deed. How anyone can stomach them I don't know. Even if I were a Skins fan they'd annoy me.

Sonny only played for the Skins for 11 years. You'd think the networks wouldn't put announcers in situations like that.

Those guys ?

Not even close.

I remember when Bill Romanowski did one of our games, it was like he was on a whisky and speedball cocktail.

He did the Vikes game from SDS with the McKown to Poole TD to knock Minnesota out of the playoffs; he sounded like the guy two stools down from you at the bar.

"Announcers" and "Worst": More often than not, the 2 words belong together.

So many bad announcers/not enough ear plugs.

I used to watch Texas games on TV and listen on the radio but now the signals aren't in synch so I'm forced to listen to the TV Broadcast. The worst is Craig James. He hates Texas and OU and listening to him do games for those two teams is like one of Dante's levels of hell.

Duck - If you have a DVR and/or audio recorder, you should be able to hit "pause" on the "earlier" of the 2 feeds and delay it just enough so that it matches the later feed.

Sadly I don't have the audio recorder and the radio feed is ahead of the TV.

did that for the last game...a pain in the rear as they come back from TV and radio at different times...it's a bunch of back and forth getting them to line up.

Next time...I stick to living with whomever is on tv.

That was the first and last time doing that.

the broadcast and plays should still be lined up though. once the action starts you should have been right on time again.

This isn't the case. Networks (TV or Radio) are starting to delay their broadcast a few seconds as needed to complete their commercial breaks. After one break, we might be watching stuff that happens 10 seconds after the fact, then after the next commercial break, it could be 7 seconds.

It's my guess that it's the TV stations that are doing this since it wasn't a problem in pre-season (ABC), but it happens in almost every game during the regular season (FOX). Not sure if this happens on CBS games or not.

BTW, I know this because I record every game onto my computer and I was adding the radio feeds and had to adjust the timing after every single commerical break. It's extremely annoying and time consuming and was the sole reason I stopped doing it.

Marty Glickman was once a fixture announcing Giant games and, later on, HS Football Game of the Week. We all loved him.

But he did have this one little problem with math:

He'd announce that an offense gained 8 yards on 1st & 10 and then, somehow, the next down would turn out to be 2nd & 6. It used to drive me nuts.

That plus Frank Gifford (who was terrible at first names) always referring to every player as "Ron."

And before I forget - The late Howard Cosell was a known hero worshiper (not only of Muhammed Ali but also) of the Dallas Cowboys. During one Cowboy-Cardinal MNF contest (with virtually every word coming out of Howard's mouth bragging about Americaa's Team), the Cardinals built up something like a 37 - 0 lead over the first two quarters (and, apparently, with every additional Cardinal point, Cosell got tipsier and tipsier). When it came time to announce the beginning of the 2H, it was either Dandy Don or the Giffor who came on the air with the solemn announcement that "Howard isn't feeling very well right now and won't be with us for the second half..." (Heh heh heh).
