Actually, the contract nor the trade value bothers me much. BM is a top-5 WR right now, and he just happened to be the most recent one to get a contract. Every year the cost of these guys goes up, so with that frame of reference I don't think it's too much.

Shutting down Marshall is real simple. All a corner back needs to do is throw a couple of McDonalds wrappers at him

:) Plus, if they had a decent QB, throwing the ball to BM is more likely to be productive. Even if from the wildcat.

Chad Henne had a good year throwing to Davone Bess and Camarillo while ricky williams was the featured back for a good portion of the season. There is talk they might draft CJ Spiller and now with BM i could see henne having a breakout year.

How do you define a good year?

No one is giving anything up for Ginn. He will be released.

That or they only get a 7th rounder. Ginn is a good return man, but not that great of a receiver, especially one who dropped 21% of his passes last season.

pretty sure mcdaniels is going to take dez bryant. so basically he has swapped a diva with proven skills for a diva with unproven skills at the nfl level.

but, it also means one less team who might have taken mclain will take him. hope this is destiny!

Assuming he's released

:bhiich:

Would be nice not to waste a draft pick for a returner.

By the way, I remember 3 years ago on draft day, someone said "We just drafted a poor man's version of Ted Ginn". How many people here and the entire NFL would rather have Breaston than Ginn now?

forgive me if I'm wrong here, but this is a contract extension on top of the one year tender at 2.5 mill he just signed, right? So, this is basically a 5 year 50 million dollar deal. Even with escalating salaries, he's still getting the same amount of money Fitz got two years ago, which basically means he moves the needle not at all for star WRs.

True and when you take into account the natural inflation in contracts as time goes on this is not much of a salary hike. I suppose the only difference maker is that Marshall is getting more guaranteed money although i havent seen all the specifics of the contract.

Edit: He is getting $24m in guaranteed money and over $29m in the first three so it appears that he is getting more guaranteed money and more upfront.

go ahead and count me in with those that are THRILLED to see MArshall go to the Dolphins and not the chickens..

I know I have mentioned this a few times before, but I grew up a DIE HARD Bronco fan, My father even worked for the organization, and to this day they are like 1A to me... My worst fear was the Seahawks landing Berry with the #6 pick and Marshall with the #14...

I think the Broncos got the best they could out of the deal, I just don't know that I would make Brandon Marshal the highest paid reciever in the history of the NFL... but regardless he is not in the NFC west and thats all I really care about...

he's an elite WR no doubt. risk-reward deal...but maybe he will clean his act up on a team that is showing him love.
