You're right: was.

He had a really mediocre pre-season.

So annoying watching people make talent evaluations and then say the word preseason like it matters. Do you also think Lienart is elite based on his preseason? If gerrarrd sucks in season sure ill listen but otherwise no and even if he did i bet hes better than Luke.

besides, my comment was to the poster about how this heppened before with leftwich. Point was they had a good QB to start ahead of him and it worked. This time I have no faith.

Just like the experts say about Denver and Tebow mania.. You dont let the fans dictate your decisions EVER! Should be no different in Jacksonville. Besides Gabbert will be a much better QB than Tebow ever will be.

Good QB play will put butts in the stands regardless of who it is.
But that's the point. Winning hasn't equated to butts in the seats. I think they need to try something different and they have an opportunity to bring in a guy, regardless of whether he ever fits the mold of an "NFL QB" is still exciting to watch and that the local fans would have a vested interest in.

I really have no horse in the Tebow will/won't make it race but even in the preseason this year, with pretty limited playing time, he threw a beautiful 43 yard TD that looked like a real NFL pass.

Plus, it's not like Jacksonville has been carried by their QB play over the last however many years. The common opinion seems to be that Tebow would be a disaster on the playing field but that's not what I saw from him last year as a rookie. I really don't see why the Jaguars couldn't employ a similar approach with him and get the fan interest to sky-rocket at the same time.

8 total TD's and an 82 passer rating in 3 starts wouldn't be much of a step back from what they've been living with in Jacksonville for a long time.

D'oh! Now the real question is whether I should continue to start Cleveland's defense at home against the Bengals, or should I change it up and start Tennessee's defense against the visiting Jaguars!

Absolutely...Shocking!

I thought this was a joke when I first saw it on ESPN.

I mean, they got L. McCown to start until Gabbert is ready but still...Wow!

Crazy! If Gabbert was a shoe in to start then I would understand this release, but starting McCown? Wow is right!

Two comments:

1. The Jags are now the 2010 Arizona Cardinals.

2. Bring him in, it couldn't hurt. (We have a wealth of edge-rushers we could cut to make room) :D

Actually, they may be the 2010 Panthers and wind up dafting a QB #1 overall after they spent a very high pick on a QB the year before.

Uhmm, not really the same circumstance.

Clausen was a mid 2nd rd pick and Gabbert was taken in the top 10.

Bet you what ever you want the Jags don't draft a QB in the top 10 next year.

But imagine the fun if they do get number 1 and Luck comes out ;)

Imagine the entertainment value of a team that took a rook recently at QB gets the #1.

Patrick Willis and several draft picks might be on their way to Jacksonville from San Francisco.

Adrian Peterson to Arizona?........................................... Just kidding. :p

It would be like LeBron. Andrew Luck speculation 24/7

Picked Gabbert up in my 16 team 10 keeper dynasty league...yeah, pickings are slim in that league. Got him in round 4 or so...great bench guy for when Bradford is on bye, because he'll be starting by then. :)
