Some of that stuff is pretty low. I'm sure much of it happens in other stadiums, but some of those specific things by a few fans were prtty bad. I don't know if Fisher heard that, but It would have taken everything I have not to go and clock the guy.

I remember going there for a suns game when I was younger to watch barkley and KJ. I got lot of crap for wearing suns gear.

In memphis, it was "Please don't beat us!" :)

I've avoided mentioning the guy who covered his eye on this board and the Lakers board I post on thus far, because it is one guy and isn't indicative of Jazz fans in general, but I have to say, I was absolutely disgusted by that.

Kobe gets his and he earned it...he made the decisions he made and must reap the consequences of that...I have no problems with people saying/doing what they must on that.

However, Fisher's daughter is his FREAKING DAUGHTER. She's a little (very cute little) girl who didn't ask for rare cancer in her eyes. From what I've read elsewhere, in the first game in Utah this season, the crowd also had a sporadic "Can-cer...Can-cer" chant when Fish hit the line the first time, which is what led to Kobe's comment in their second game there that they took the game "personal." What kind of monsters do that? really? Eye-guy has a special little spot in hell reserved...it is just not right and no amount of "beer muscles" makes it excuseable.

I would personally be in favor of the Jazz reviewing the tape, singling out the guy and if he is a season ticket holder, revoking his tickets. Given the family values of the owner's church and his own adherance to them, I really expect some kind of statement.

Truly disgusted that anyone would think that attacking the health of a player's daughter is in any way "ok." Completely wrong. The little girl did nothing, and neither did Fisher, do deserve that kind of treatment. Freedom of speech is fine and all, but a game is a corporate event and the team has the right to regulate as it sees fit.

All fan bases have their good fans, and their crappy fans. I don't know any Utah Jazz fans, but I choose to believe that those people in that article are the minority and not the typical example of a fan of the Utah Jazz. Those "fans" are low class and are embarrassments to their team and to their city. There is a line between being a passionate fan and being an ass. It's fine to root for your team, it's fine to trade some good hearted smack talk with fans of the other team, but in the end fans often forget that sportsmanship should extend past the teams playing and into the stands. Cheering injury, wishing harm on a player or their family, making fun of a players personal problems, those are all things that I think the "average" sports fan does not take part in.

If anything, I feel bad for Utah that their city is conveyed the way it is in that article. Salt Lake isn't a bad place, the Jazz are a classy organization and that comes from their ownership, coaches, and players. There is nothing wrong with the Utah Jazz, those are just a few "bad apples."

Indeed a few bad apples spoil the whole bunch. I work for a company that provides season tickets for us to take clients out to baseball, basketball games, etc. When I worked in L.A. we had some kick ass Laker tickets; five rows behind the basket on the visitors bench side. When I'm with a customer, I have to be cordial. I took a customer to Game 4 of the 2006 playoffs LA/PHX. Obviously, I'm a Suns fan and the guy I took with me was a Laker fan. Because he was a good friend of mine, I wore a Suns hat just to poke fun at him. A guy three rows behind kept trying to get my attention, dropping f-bombs, throwing empty containers and trying to pick a fight with me. I was about to get security involved when my customer stepped up and told the guy to ****. Remember, these are class A seats that are face valued @ $200 and still people act with little class.

I agreed with everything you wrote up until this. Of course you are right that the little girl did nothing, but Fisher isn't exactly an innocent victim here. He traded on his daughter's health crisis in order to advance his professional career. I find that repulsive and unforgivable. The fan's behavior is entirely out of line, but Fisher should have difficulty looking himself in the mirror after this season.

I was under the impression that Fisher's desire to be with his daughter in LA and the Jazz' willingness to accommodate that was a good NBA story from the last couple of years?

Oh give me a break. He took less money to go back to LA, where the 2nd best doctor for this lives, the one who works with the best doctor in NY.

That didn't "advance his professional career." Hell, he went to a team in turmoil that was possibly trading their best player. We could just as easily be saying that Fish went to a terrible team as to a great one.

Don't revisionist history this one. Fish didn't do anything wrong...he went to a comfortable area for him where his daughter got top line treatment.

The SECOND best doctor for his daughter's health so he could be with the FIRST best player for his own career. Weak.

What an ignorant thing to say. Fisher took less money to go to a city with 2 of the top 5 or 6 eye institutes in the country.

Good for the guy giving you static. Don't wear your crap in the other team's building without expecting to get harrassed like no other.

If he was so preoccupied with his daughter's health that he felt the need to sever his ties with his contracted employer, he should have sat the season out. End of story.

Sorry, giving up multiple millions each year is not weak. He's next to the second best specialist, and flies to NY for her treatments.

WTF is wrong with that?

Or a different way of viewing it.

Have you ever took a job that paid less money to be closer to home or family?

No, not end of story. Decent argument, I'll give you that, but not "end of story."

His earning potential years don't last forever. But I guess a few million here and there doesn't matter...

If he flies to NY for her treatments, why did he have to leave Utah? Just asking.

He also lived and played in LA for 8 years before becoming something of a journeyman on the Warriors and Jazz. Perhaps LA is home and the best place for his family to be in his mind. In any case, he discussed with the Jazz and they came to an arrangement. I have no problem with that.

I assume the family home is in LA. There is more to healing than medicine.

I probably would, but I wouldn't sever a binding contract in order to do it. I'd wait until that contract came up.

Fisher took advantage of his daughter's condition and the Jazz's good will in order to circumvent the CBA, then joined a conference rival because it was better for his career. It would be like if I was a high-level executive with Microsoft, begged out of my contract making some bereavement argument, and then a month later took a major position with Apple.
