OT: Very sad. Paul George may never play again.

It looks like they expect him to miss the whole season.

Good move on their part. Even if he could come back earlier, no sense putting undue pressure to come back early. Hope he's able to get back close to 100% but what a blow to Indiana; lost their 2 best perimeter players from last year.

He was pretty much the only guy who was a scorer on their team. Pacers will now barely playoffs imo.

I think George's injury is the easily the 2nd most gruesome and disgusting injury I have seen after Kevin Ware's injury.

You are forgetting Shaun Livingston. I still cringe when i remember that knee injury

Across all sports I can think of a few that were as bad or worse...

Off the top of my head:

Joe Theisman's broken leg, he stood on the broken end of it for a second or two... horrifying.

The previously mentioned Shaun Livingston knee explosion.

Willis McGahee's knee in the national championship while he was on the Hurricanes.

This lineman on the Niners in the 90s... I think it was Bryant Young had a helmet go straight into his shin and it looked like it flat out shattered.

Freddie Mitchell, the jerk receiver, when he was in college he had a gruesome femur fracture, it did this whirly bird thing as he was rolled over in the tackle. As someone who had very recently broken their own femur when that play happened... I just about puked.

And the worst combination of gross and depressing...

Dave Dravecky (had to look it up to remember his name), beat cancer in his pitching arm, only to have his arm break in mid throw during a live game... that was traumatizing.

The worst ever for me was Moises Alou's dislocated ankle. Nobody should have to watch someone's foot at a 90 degree angle from their shin. That was nasty.

Andrew Bogut's broken elbow grossed me out too, the way he landed on it just made me cringe. That was against the Suns too!

oh man...that one I can remember the exact spot I was sitting in in my aunt's living room. that was GRUESOME.

It ruptured the big artery that runs down your leg. I read afterward that had the injury happened a couple of years sooner they would have had to amputate his leg.

Reminds me of Tony Saunders who did the same thing in the late 90's with the Rays. When he tried to comeback the next season, he broke it again during a minor league start and had to retire.

I did almost the exact same thing in a league basketball game. Not as bad but I had a 90 degree separation. Was 4 to 6 months before I could put any weight on it and it took a full year for me to walk on it without pain. Took about another 6 months after that before I was brave enough to get back on the court.

I am no world class athlete but I can relate to what is ahead of him with all the physical therapy etc.

Though maybe not as bad as some the Marcus Lattimore injury was pretty horrible. Stephen Drew broke his ankle sliding into home and reset it himself just moments later, also pretty bad.

Yep. I was going to mention the Lattimore injury as well. I can still visualize that play as I was watching it live. It didn't seem real because of how it dangled. But, just now watched the George injury... that was gross

Strange what an amazing things the human body can accomplish yet be so vulnerable to freak injuries because of balance or weird angles.
