So, Joe Flacco gets compared to Trent Dilfer.

Granted, Dilfer is a jerk of a analyst. Yet, I would take Dilfer. Trent Dilfer has a Super Bowl ring. Trent Dilfer could "manage a game" better than a hell of a lot of QB's I have seen since his Super Bowl run. I would guarantee for all the praise given to Baltimore for their ability to find good talent, and use it, they regret letting Dilfer go.

So, I don't get the reference. To be compared to Trent Dilfer is to say something negative.

If ONLY the Cardinals had a QB that would limit mistakes, and make the throws when he needed to.

I am sure there is many a team that would have been more than happy to have Trent Dilfer as there QB this year. While it is a "passing league" a lot of teams that made the playoffs, and won in the playoffs had better defenses and good running games.

Say, what you will, stats are stats, but wins are wins. Wins, and ONLY wins get you a Super Bowl Title.

Why is Trent Dilfer a jerk analyst? Never really heard him sound disrespectful....

I dont get that either...to be honest, I find Dilfer quite interesting & very knowledgeable. Hell, I wouldn't mind seeing him as the Cards QB coach. He breaks down QB's and plays well on TV & he even runs a camp of the top 20 potential top college QB's every year. Now wether that translates to production on the field might be another story, but I've seen many unproductive NFL QB's & other players be better coaches.

When you have the defense they had it takes a much less dynamic QB.

How true. I'm still amazed that the Ravens beat NE in Foxboro 33-14 in the 2009 playoffs completing only 4 passes.

He comes off as a know it all pompous ass. He refers to quarterbacking as a "craft". For example, "Tom Brady has mastered his craft." He says that nobody studies the amount of tape that he does. He described Ben Roethosberger as a "great thrower of the football". Hell, even Aaron Rodgers made fun of him on ESPN radio in answering a q about what Dil-hole said by saying "well Trent is SOOOO intelligent, I don't think I'd understand what he said".

Fwiw, I have had Ravens season tickets for years and though they made a mistake letting him go in favor of Grbac, Dilfer was not very good at all. He hiked the ball and handed off to Jamal Lewis who had 2000 yards that year. When they had to throw, he took his time behind the best offensive line in the NFL. Hey was a homeless man's Alex Smith IMO

This. It's also a big reason the ravens let him go. Notice, nobody on the team complained about it but him...

Jamaal Lewis didn't have 2000 yards with Dilfer. He had 1350 yards. He had 2K 3 years later. And Dilfer wasn't even the full time start when the Ravens won the title. Tony Banks started the first half of the season.

but Dilfer wasn't anything special... at all. He wasn't even really a caretaker. 136 yards per game, 1:1 TD:INT ratio? dude was just lucky enough to play with a very solid running game and probably the second best D of all time.

Dilfer had a Tebow game just like Flacco in the playoffs that season. 5-16 vs the Titans and Baltimore won 24-10. With a 166 yards of offense. That was an awesome defense. 10 of the 12 games Dilfer started the Ravens opponents scored 10 points or less.

Dilfer was as bad as Dereck Anderson. Career 55.5% completion and 113TDs to 129INTs.

Dilfer has an arrogance about him when he speaks... That would be hard to take listening to, even if it were coming out of Brady or Mannings mouth.. But if it were Brady or Manning, at least the arrogance would make sense.. But he's Trent-freaking-Dilfer for Gods sake!!!

Dilfer came in after Banks failed to outscore the team's defense like 3 weeks in a row lol.

Whether you like Dilfer or not he was right when he talked about the pass happy league and how fans are more forgiving if you lose 35-31 instead of 17-13. I agree with him there. So many fans are into fantasy leagues now that they care more about winning their league than what the team they back does as long as they produce good numbers for their fantasy team.

He may be a pompous ass but he does make some good points.

LOL That's exactly why I quit playing fantasy football. Got too caught up in who scored instead of who won. Well that and I couldn't help drafting all the Cardinals players and so finished last every year.

Ah, so you adapted the Rugbymuffin style of draft.

I lose if I do it, and I lose if I don't, so why not.

Dilfer is a good analyst but he clearly has a hardon for the Cards so I really dislike him when he discussed us, but he rarely does. Easier to like when objective.

That game vs. the Titans...was that the one where Lewis sealed the win by ripping the ball out of Eddie George's hands?

One thing I like about Dilfer is that he appears to give his brutally honest opinion. I remember him lambasting the Cardinals after Warner left saying something like "Warner hid a lot of warts on this team - they're gonna stink without him".
Boy, did that ever come true.

The sad thing is, Dilfer the analyst is 300% better than Dilfer the QB...

Which is exactly why I think he might make a pretty good QB coach. He knows the game, but his physical skills limited his playing ability. Dilfer, Gruden & Jaws break down QB play like no others on TV.
