My choise at this time of the year would be the best pass rusher coming out of college, DE Brandon Graham of Michigan. He will be the next Dwight Freeney. 6' 2", 270 lbs. with an explosive move at the snap. He has the moves to beat the OT either with power or his great quickness.

This is the Cards # 1 need. The outside linebacker position is loaded with very good prospects. Two OSL/DE's I would look at for the third round would be Willie Young of NC State and Christian Anthony of Grambling.

The Second round, I would take an OT, Vladimir Ducasse of Massachusetts 6' 5" 325 with great physical talent and quick feet, a rising star in the upcoming draft.

JPP reminds me a lot of Michael Johnson from last year (minus the motor issues). I'm interested, but I need to be sold more that he can play standing up. He's looking more 4-3 end than 3-4 linebacker to me at this point.

i liked Johnson alot last year. He's had a very nice year in Cincy. I've seen JPP listed as both 4-3 and 3-4.

I'm down with JPP, yeah you know me :D.

Jerry Hughes DE, OLB

He's from my neck in the woods TCU

GOTTA have him!!!

I like that ILB from TCU. Washington?

One of the few guys with these type measurements:

6'3" 231 and 4.56 forty time. Dansby's measurements coming out of college of course.

We should stock up on linebackers in next season's draft, both inside and out. It is highly doubtful Dansby will be back and Okeafor and Berry will be too old to be starters, if they are even re-signed. Sergio Kindle out of Texas might be a good pick as an OLB if available. I dont know much about the ILB prospects in the draft though. If anyone could enlighten me on some good guys that could go in the first 3 rounds, that would be great.

Furthermore, I dont think this has been mentioned, but we should also be looking for a nose tackle. Robinson is old and is still playing out of position. Watson seems like he has never fully recovered from his knee injury. And Branch is better suited as a 3-4 DE. I love big NTs that can blow up the interior to add pass rush lanes up the middle and a good one can keep linemen honest against CC and Dockett.

Given many of the choices have been listed --

how about George Selvie, DE at Southern Florida.

Undersized so he will have to play the 3/4 OLB role. Very, very athletic and productive.

BTW: if this is a year to get a 3/4 outside backer -- this is it. Seems like there are about 10 of that kind of player coming out.

I really dont get the good feel about Kindle that I had last year about Brian Orakpo. And thats coming from a Horns fan. I see Kindle being like another former UT LB Derrick Johnson. And he hasn't been to productive.

But I agree with you about adding LB'ers, 3-4 need to be drafted early.

DJ-- a question for the Texas expert

Sergio Kindle is ranked as a first rounder. He has been productive, but I just don't know about him.

I wonder -- is he well regarded partly because Brian Orakpo turned out to be a really, really good NFL player?

in addition to the above listed Ronaldo McClain of Alabama --

there is Brandon Spikes of Florida. Could be there -- had some character type stuff in college, but nothing serious. I think this guy is the next great young ILB in the league. Plays with violence.

Witherspoon of Missouri is another good one -- not as big as Spikes, but probably better in coverage. He would be closer to a well rounded Dansby type ILB in the Cardinals system in that he would be asked to cover as much as than blitz.

it is a great year for 3-4 OLb/pass rushers so we could get a guy like Selvie in round 3 who could turn out to be as good as a 1st round guy. I can name 10 guys off the top of my head. Hughes,JPP,Norwood, Kindle, Selvie, Von Miller, Bowman(although he's a little small), Witherspoon, Sapp, and Graham. It may be better to get a guy in the 2nd round or lower.

The guy who will be very intrigueing if he's there is the TE from Oklahoma, Jermaine Gresham. He was a top 10 talent and clearly the best TE if he would have come out last year. When is the last time the Cards had a legit TE pass catching threat? Alot will depend on how healthy he is. Anthony Davis and Iupati are the 2 OL that i like who may be available in round 1.

But i'm still holding out with my original call of Rolondo McClain falling. It worked lasy year, why not this year?

I have questions on how good Kindle will be in the NFL and thats coming from a Horns fan. When I watch Sergio, the name that comes to mind is Derrick Johnson another fromer UT standout. I'm not sure how much this kid loves football & think he is already as big & as good as he will get. Maybe Duck can add more...

I thought of that scenario also: Gresham with our #1 & Von Miller with our #2. The only drawback is how many catches can a TE get with Fitz, Q & Breaston on the field. I'm not sure with all those guys on the team that Gresham could have a big impact.

I'm also kind of leery about Kindle because he didn't make the plays this season you would expect from a guy playing alongside Sam Acho and Lamarr Houston.

However he has been moved around some so his drop off this season could be the result. I think he is a guy who will need some time to develop but he is big and quick and has played a lot of special teams so that would be a plus.

Houston, an underrated player imo, is going to make some team a fine 4-3 DT but the real gem on that Texas defense is Sam Acho. I'd take him in a heartbeat. But he's a Jr. and I don't think there's any way he comes out early.

Duck, my favorite player on that Texas D is Earl Thomas. This guy has NFL star written all over him!!!

But I agree with you on Acho, he has nothing but good things ahead of him.

Thomas is a player but since he's just a Soph I didn't figure him into the discussion.

I think he may be too small for safety in the NFL but could develop into a solid nickel cornerback.

Texas must have the smallest starting safeties in division I.

Athletic, I will give you but productive, not even a little bit. He only has 3 sacks this year and 9 tackles for loss. May have been the most overrated prospect to begin the season this year. As for the guy playing opposite of him and the talk of this thread Pierre, he is without a doubt bigger then the 240 listed in this thread. He is closer to 260. While he had a very good season he only had a very good season in terms of it being his first year in real college ball. Dude still needs a lot of seasoning and would be wise to stay in school one more year.

If we are looking for OLB/DE types then three come to mind who would have the easiest transitions because all have played standing up often as linebackers throughout their college career. Sapp, Norwood, and Kindle.
