Steve Hutchinson wants to keep playing, Vikings may not keep him

Getty Images Steve Hutchinson has finished the last two seasons on injured reserve. In 2011, it was because of a concussion.
That led to some inevitable speculation about the future for the 11-year veteran, but Vikings coach Leslie Frazier confirmed Tuesday via espn1500.com that Hutchinson plans to continue playing.
Tom Pelissero writes that his future is unlikely to be with the Vikings. He’s due $7 million in 2012, and Minnesota may not want to keep him at that salary.
We thought Hutchinson’s play bounced back some in 2011 compared to 2010, but that is still a steep price to pay for a rebuilding team.

Oh Lord. We'll bring him in for his "veteran presence", won't we? Sadly, I can see this happening.

not only will it happen but he will start the first 12 weeks even though he is hobbled and playing worse than any guard in AZ history and will finally hit the bench once his knee gives out permanently.

Then we can begin the chants to have him replace Grimm as our OL Coach! Perfect!

Before making any commitment, we should check with Peyton.

Alan Faneca Part Deux?

No thanks. Go after Grubbs from NO and draft a Tackle at #13.

Gotta protect Peyton ;)

Except Hutchinson in his prime was 5x the player Faneca was. That says a lot too.

I find it interesting no matter who is rumored to be headed our way he is like poison ivy. We seem to be one of the most pessimistic board i visit. I see post the Fitzgerald is not as good as he is hyped and some all pros would stink or would not fit in here. You could put JC on this team and someone would not like his character. Many or even most of these guys mentioned I just know cursory information about and would not judge them Leave it up to the staff who clearly study this for a living. When we got Kurt Warner I think there were more negative post than positive post as he was over the hill, to old, would not make it through the season, etc. Then we sign Kolb who some think is the next coming of Joe Montana. It all adds to the interest on the board (I guess).

Not to me.
Steve Hutchinson
7× Pro Bowl (2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009)
7× All-Pro (2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009)
NFL 2000s All-Decade Team

Alan Faneca
9× Pro Bowl selection (2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009)
9× All-Pro selection (2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009)
NFL 2000s All-Decade Team

In their primes Steve Hutchinson may have been better by Fanaca but it wasn't by much. Take one out and put the other in and IMO you wouldn't know the difference.

1. What's to like? He was a wuss who turned the other cheek. Hardly football material. ;)

2. and others think it's the worst signing in the history of the game.

Can he play Left Tackle? A 2000-year-old dead guy could certainly give Levi a run for his money.
