Very good read. Adam is a great writer.

Cardinals GM Rod Graves told Sports 620 KTAR that the team has every intention of keeping Larry Fitzgerald, going as far as to say "We are prepared to make Larry the highest-paid player in our history and we are prepared to make him one of the highest-paid players in the National Football League."
And, while Fitzgerald has consistently said he has no desire leave Arizona, Graves' words can almost be taken as a challenge to the receiver's sincerity.

If Graves gets that sig before the season starts he's the man. He has been the piñata in here since I started reading in here, and rightfully so. But if he gets that Larry before game 1...I will honestly write him a letter (on paper, no email crap or twitter shout out) telling him how happy these guys have made me this year. "I take it all back" sorta loveletter mancrushing thank you thank you thank you with sincerity.

The club is looking good, I don't care how or why it happened, except that it shows me thay want to win. Fitz sees the same thing, he can probably get paid more next year if he doesn't sign right now, with or without us, but I think he will be a Cardinal for a long while. I kinda know it in my heart.

Graves, don't be calling out my boy, you and yours did a great job. If it aint Fitz-thirty then it aint Fitz-thirty. Timing is everything and Fitz knows your super deal is there when he wants it, he knows we love him. Don't be talking no stink homie, because you've accomplished big things this year, stand proud and step back. Let Whiz do his thing, I've seen him with a QB before and I recall Fitz enjoing it too. Let the team play, and the Fitz's land where they may. You done real good, but if Fitz aint ready just get out of the way.

Let Whiz come in and fire that chit up, give it some gas. You feel that? Damn that sounds mean! How fast does it go? I don't know but it looks like a winner. What's it got in it? I dunno.

RG definitley fired a shot across Fitz's bow. I was a bit taken back by his comments but it is obvious the FO wants/needs to get this done. Even thought he team doesn't need to spend the entire cap this year there is a floor and getting Fitz re-signed solves not only the cap but face of the franchise issue.

This offseason has created an unprecedented amount of goodwill amongst the fan base and getting Fitz done now cements it.

Graves also said they were going to keep the core of Boldin, Dansby, and Rolle togther too. Isn't Fitz already the highest paid WR in Cards history? Isn't he already one of the highest paid players in the NFL?

Color me skeptical when it comes to anything Graves says. It seems that Graves has no real concept of what the real NFL marketplace is for big time free agents. That's why he is always scrambling to try and throw a deal together, or so he says, at the last minute and can say the Cards offered a similar deal.

Keep hanging onto the hate my man.

Did you not notice that everything the Cards promised leading up to this past week has come true? Have you noticed that the name Bill Sr has not been mentioned this past week?

51 players signed in like 72 hours and the Cards are considered by many one of the winners this FA period. Pretty much everything you stated in your RG gets a promotion thread has been disproved.

RG's qoute is highest paid player in CARDS history and one of the top in the NFL.

And you did see that Whiz gave most of the credit to Mike Bidwill. I like the Heap signing and the Kolb trade. The rest were kind of, meh. We'll see how it works out. Don't get carried away with the 51 players. Many of them were just re-signs and UDFA's. I hope Fitz does get signed. Over the years, I've just learned not to have faith in anything Graves says or does. The only thing that gives me hope is that Mike Bidwill says he'll get it done.

I'm pretty sure RG would give the credit to Mike as well. Graves can't sign people if MB doesn't want to pay the man...

And he damn well tried. And, in the end, the only guy worth missing at this point is Dansby, who was franchised twice and offered essentially the same deal he received in Miami.

I read that last night, thought it was a little overboard. Sure graves did kinda call fitz out but fitz has been callin the FO out all offseason saying if we are serious he wants to be here. PErsonally I think Graves could have simply said we want him and are going to pay him without challenging our top player publicly.

Just like all ex-Cards, by the time it's all over, Fitz will be a cancer in the clubhouse, easily replaceable, didn't want to be here, and we're better off without him :D.

It's interesting how we all hear things a bit differently and our perception of the situation is influenced by our past biases and thoughts.

I hear Whiz give credit to Michael and don't think he made the decisions of who to go after but that the check book was finally fully opened up. My perception is that RG was finally allowed to make deals and get things done without having to get the final okay from Bill Sr. (Uncle Joe).

Both Whiz and RG have heaped a ton of praise and thanks on Michael. My predisposed frustration with Bill Sr and his stingy and stupid ways leads me to think that that obstacle was removed this offseason. Which means RG was allowed to do what he wanted when he wanted without having to do a song and dance t get the money.
