I think only the cardinals know for sure ..but we had $28.5 available of Monday of last week (before the recent signings). This was the number by Jurecki and another site on the internet.. I think we signed about 10 or 11 guys this week (the big four outside FA's, plus like 4 of our own guys plus garcia - I may be missing one). I do not know for sure what we have spent - but Probably somewhere in the $11 - $13 million range. So..we probably have somewhere between $14 - $17 million left..I do not know if we have officially cut Grutts and if this was factored into the $28.5 million..Rookie cap will probably be $5 mil or so (per jurecki this week)..so we should have $11 - $14 million available for FA's.

THis will probably be updated sometime next week by the media..hardest time to calculate this is now give the flurry of signings..and for some of the signings the detail has not been released..

In listening to MJ last week I think that the rookie pool was already out of the 28.5 mil...so your original estimate of 14 to 17 is probably correct...maybe more with Grut cut......

In listening to jurecki I thought $28.5 mil had not deducted the rookie salary cap yet.. I think we started out with $34 mil and then we signed the following to go from $34 to $28.5 mil:

Tanner, Grace, David Barrett, Justin Lucas, Starkey, Dwyer, Eason, Faulk, Nathan Hodel, Travis Prentice, Teag Whiting, Woods and Tony Wragg. I think we had $34 million before the above guys were signed. Some of the guys do not count as they are not among the top 45 salaries (or whatever the # is)- but guys like tanner, barrett, lucas, hodel would clearly count in the cap.

This is consistent with the following:

I hope you are right and we have way more the spend.. Hopefully someone will update it this week..
