I believe I have mentioned this particular band in the forum before, but have never dedicated an entire thread to them (and they definitely warrant one)....

Most of you might have heard their smash-hit "Sometimes" back in '01 from their debut album "Distorted Lullabies".... In fact.. here's the link to the video courtesy of launch.com: http://music.yahoo.com/ar-285116-videos--Ours

Here's their official site: http://www.ours.net/
Fan site: http://www.killtheband.com/

Their fan site is a better resource than the official one.... It includes several lives perfomances... here's a link to them: http://www.killtheband.com/downloads.htm

"Kill The Band" is a song title from their '02 release "Precious".....
The lead-singer, Jimmy Gnecco, is someone who would definitely capture the title of "this generations Bono" since he has probably one of the best voices around... also.. his lyrics are very grappling as well..... Just unfortunate they havent received much recoginition, however, they've been in the studio for over this past year finishing up their 3rd full-length album which is due out sometime w/in the next couple of months and is one in which I have immense anticipation....

Just to add.. they're today's USA's answer to Radiohead... believe me... Ours is that good.....

Has anyone else heard of this New Jersey based band? If not.... you must immerse yourself in the experience of Ours........

Yeah... agree about that song.... one of the best off "Precious"

It's unfortunate that Ours is practically unnoticed.... I only knew of them because the "Sometimes" video was heavily in MTV2's regular rotation throughout the summer/fall of '01.....

What's held them back though somewhat is that it's taken already 4-years for them to finish their 3rd album, which is due-out in March...A lengthy period between releases lowers whatever momentum that a band is trying to establish, but I bet this album won't be released to much fanfare...however.... will be very acclaimed and well received.....

PS> I didnt mean to edit your last post... I was quoting it, but didnt realize until after the fact that I had selected the edit rather than the quote feature.. proves how half asleep I am at the moment....:D

I know some cannot tolerate when I bump up an old thread with videos from certain bands that I came across on youtube, however, it's the best way to some times illustrate how impressive a vastly overlooked band is.....

This is the video to "Sometimes" which initially turned me on to Ours.... here it is in all its splendor:

It's aged well since it was released...

I've got that CD with "Sometimes" on it and I have to admit it did nothing for me. I really could not find another song I liked or wanted to listen to again.
