After unjustly firing Kate and refusing to pay her, Leonardo falls overboard when partying too hard and wakes up on the Oregon coast with amnesia. At first miserable and inept, Leonardo slowly settles in. Eventually he earns the respect of his new "family" and co-workers. But, with Leonardo's billionaire family hot on their trail and the possibility of his memory returning at any moment, will their new family last or will Leonardo finally put the clues together and leave them for good?

first thought is no way...overboard is a classic....

but then I remembered the end of the movie....

would be cool if this little blonde chick in oregon is the daughter Goldie told Kirk she wanted at the end of the original.

I watch everything pretty much so I'm sure I will catch this on netflix at some point

I would have never thought to remake this movie. Kurt and Goldie were perfect and it's hard to recapture that magic. Still, I will give it a chance if for no other reason than Anna Faris.

Just to clarify, the big laughing face I posted was to mock this movie. I truly thought others would be doing the same lol WOW!

Nope! Based on the trailer it looks funny remake or not. That doesn’t mean the movie is going to any any good. I with like most remakes will wait for the reviews because they usually are not that good.

However, willing to give it a shot if trailer is any indication.

Yeah, you needed to clarify. There's always a chance someone new joined the forum and just read a Stout post in the Movies Forum for the first time ever.

My initial reaction was the same but I like Faris a lot and I saw potential in the trailer.

Classic remakes I understand if not condone, but remakes of movies that are average at best? Why?

Average? How dare you!

agree. That movie for some reason is BELOVED by almost every I know who grew up in the 80's... including me. I can't even begin to tell you why, but I just love so much it.

It's peak Kurt and Goldy.

I'm not a film buff by any means, I'm just there for the entertainment. And, for us, Overboard was incredibly entertaining. We've re-watched it many, many times through the years, the last time in February of this year. Great fun, great lead actors/characters.

And the greatest goofy golf course EVER.

I mean who didn’t want to play mini-golf at the Wonders Of The World?

Hell... I even wanted that cool ass shoe rack he made and I hate shoes!

I have no shoe collection but I've always loved that type of cabinet.

I wonder if the movie would have been hurt had John Candy been able to take the role of Billy? He was tied up with Planes, Trains and Automobiles and had to pass. Of course, that movie would have been weakened considerably with Candy so it all worked out I guess.

Oh man... I don’t know. Throw Candy in there and so might be absolutely freaking amazing... or he could have overwhelmed the movie.

Candy could play best friend pretty well. He didn’t overpower Pryor in Brewster. But he could have here.

Best for all parties he was busy because Plains is probably my favorite buddy road pic ever. Riotously funny, real characters, sweet as sugar with just enough bitter to make it resonate emotionally unlike almost any comedy in the 80’s.

The bad thing for me is I watched it, but can't remember what it was about at all. Need to watch it again I guess.

Honestly... if it’s not a movie you love or remember you probably never need to watch it again.

Actually I have a bigger issue with remakes of great movies. If it was meh or average!?

Sure why not? Try to make a better version.
