There you have it... 9-3, Good enough for second place with USC going 12-0.

All 3 losses in the Pac? That's more likely 3rd place and maybe even fourth place. It's a possibility, but it's a weak 9-3 without a single quality win. Unless Cal or Oregon State make it to the BCS (unlikely), your scenario would have ASU in either the Sun Bowl or the Insight Bowl.

Again.

Good enough for second place with USC going 12-0.

If USC goes 12-0 then they will have deserved it. They have Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oregon and Cal all on the road this year. That's pretty tough.

Gotta give them credit - USC isn't afraid to schedule good teams OOC.

Looks like once again, ua's awesome recruiting class couldn't get their best recruits into school.

Great class stoops!

I haven't read anywhere that these kids aren't getting in. I've read that it's taking a while to get them in but that happens every year to any team.

That looks like a 3 game losing streak to end the season, if you can get by UDubb, who is going to get some upsets this year...

Our O-line started 3 freshman last year and were manhandled because of size and experience... Collectively the starting unit has gained 75 pounds.

hopefully all those extra lbs weren't all due to taking seconds at the training table? Are those 3 frosh experienced vets now?

I think the PAC-10 is going to emerge as the premiere conference along side the SEC within a few years......and it will be exciting to watch.

No ooc team give us as many problems and headaches as our fellow PAC-10 opponents.....they come out to play, and they play hard. SC will lose a game, most likely to a PAC-10 team.

I agree. I don't like USC, but I like what they've done for the Pac. They've set the bar higher, and the rest of the pac is trying to reach that level. The bad teams aren't as bad as other conferences, and the second tier teams not only are getting better, but I believe there are more of them.

This may be distressing to you, but I completely agree. Hate/dislike is good against a conference opponent, particularly one that is successful at the moment....and it is a very healthy attitude to want to knock that team out of the top spot. I've been around long enough to remember the dark years, so I know you can't be on top forever, our fall will come, of that everyone can be certain.

I honestly think that is why we struggle so much in our own conference......OOC opponents do not take us seriously (respect), always with the "overrated" "weak conference" BS, even if we beat them in their own stadium....they always have excuses. The PAC teams at least acknowledge what we bring to the table, therefore they play us tough and hard, the scoreboard between our conference vs out of conference reflect where we have the toughest fights.

Everyone wins if our conference improves, and frankly, most of us want you to improve and be successful, if for no other reason than for the other conferences to ****!

And don't underestimate other sports. Baseball and Basketball have really picked up a lot of late, and 2007-2008 the Pac will be THE best conference in College Basketball. Young recruits seeing that might be more inclined to spend more time looking at our schools than they normally would, even if it is for football.

When UofA does make a bowl, and it's bound to happen SOME year because basically half the Division I teams make it, it should be interesting to hear the predictions UofA fans make for the following seasons. I bet even a trip to the Las Vegas bowl would get some of them talking BCS.

I think Stoops predicted they would be in the BCS in 3 years his first season there.

Basketball was very exciting last season in the PAC-10, Arizona schools have had good programs for quite a while - we have not; our cross town rival has the great basketball tradition in California...so it was great to have our team in the sweet 16. Believe it or not, USC holds far and beyond, more National Championships in Baseball (12) than any other University, unfortunately it has been so many years since the last one, and all but one were under one coach.

No kidding, the Pac is by far and away the best baseball conference, and they seem to be improving, despite what some sec fans might think.

UCLA basketball is almost doing what USC football has done for the conference. And I don't see any dropoff there anytime soon. Of course ua is always good, but the second tier teams also seem to be improving in this sport...

lol. Stanford.......

Good point, but what I meant is that there aren't as many bad teams. Look at the big12 or sec...It's easy to have elite teams when you know half of your conference schedule is a cake walk.

FYI name to look for this year is Cal freshman Jahvid Best. He probably will mainly return KO's this year but they are openly comparing him to Reggie Bush in terms of potential and explosiveness.

He's about 185 pounds so he probably won't get alot of RB work this year but he ran a 10.3 100 meters in HS and when asked who was faster Best or DeSean Jackson, Nate Longshore said "oh Jahvid is no question."

Tedford has already said he's going to return KO's and said you typically have to teach a freshman not to reverse field because it works in HS but doesn't work in college but he says Best is unique, he knows when to do it and he's so fast he can actually get away with it.

Sounds like he could be used somewhat like Florida used Percy Harvin (sp?) last year as a true freshman. I guess the original plan was probably redshirt him but they're now coming up with packages to get him on the field because he's been so spectacular in camp. First scrimage they had he returned a KO and a punt for TD's.
