I agree the revenue may be the best part of the whole deal for the Arizona schools..
I also love how we get to be in the division with the So Cal schools not only for recruiting but but exposure on a national level as well, it worked out very well for both ASU and UofA..
The only thing I do not like about the new deal, is the championship game being held at the home team's stadium... Any team having to go to Auzten Stadium for a championship will be a significant underdog...
Can you imagine if the SEC adotped this policy and Florida had to travel and play Alabama in Tuscolousa for the SEC championship?!? There is no way, and it is a joke to even consider it...
Or for the former Big12, if Oklahoma had to play Nebraska in Lincon? That is not a level playing field, it is a joke..
While there really is no clear reslolution to the problem (In Ted Miller's article on ESPN he clairfied Vegas was not an option for moral reasons than anything), the only logical choice was at a pro-style stadium in a hopefully central location but nothing really fit the bill..
They also made the excuse of the PAC-10 basketball tourney struggling to attract a large audience, but imo, it's apples and oranges... if the Championship game was held say in the Rose bowl, you're trying to tell me Ute fans, Wildcat fans, Devils fans would not travel for that one game.. the reason the PAC-10 tourney struggles is for one you don't know whether you will be there 1 day or 4, and in the end, it doesn't make THAT big of deal..
a FOOTBALL championship game = BIG DEAL..
It is ridiculous to have a participating team host the conference championship, no other conference does it that way, nor should they, the sooner they figure that out the better
