Per Larry Scott's Press Conf

Pac 12 Conf championship will be played at the Home team's field for the highest overall conference record. If there is a tie then there will be a tie breaking mechanism starting with head to head.

South

North

UW

I agree the revenue may be the best part of the whole deal for the Arizona schools..

I also love how we get to be in the division with the So Cal schools not only for recruiting but but exposure on a national level as well, it worked out very well for both ASU and UofA..

The only thing I do not like about the new deal, is the championship game being held at the home team's stadium... Any team having to go to Auzten Stadium for a championship will be a significant underdog...

Can you imagine if the SEC adotped this policy and Florida had to travel and play Alabama in Tuscolousa for the SEC championship?!? There is no way, and it is a joke to even consider it...

Or for the former Big12, if Oklahoma had to play Nebraska in Lincon? That is not a level playing field, it is a joke..

While there really is no clear reslolution to the problem (In Ted Miller's article on ESPN he clairfied Vegas was not an option for moral reasons than anything), the only logical choice was at a pro-style stadium in a hopefully central location but nothing really fit the bill..

They also made the excuse of the PAC-10 basketball tourney struggling to attract a large audience, but imo, it's apples and oranges... if the Championship game was held say in the Rose bowl, you're trying to tell me Ute fans, Wildcat fans, Devils fans would not travel for that one game.. the reason the PAC-10 tourney struggles is for one you don't know whether you will be there 1 day or 4, and in the end, it doesn't make THAT big of deal..

a FOOTBALL championship game = BIG DEAL..

It is ridiculous to have a participating team host the conference championship, no other conference does it that way, nor should they, the sooner they figure that out the better

Larry Scott said their model was the NFL. If New England has the best record in the AFC then they deserve to host the AFC championship even if the weather sucks. I see where they are coming from but it would have been nice to see the championship at UoP.

Look at the Pac-10 Basketball Tournament, it's an absolute joke. There's about 500 people there for a lot of the games in the 19k seat Staples Center. Nobody wants to see a half-empty UofP Stadium for a Stanford-Utah title game or a barely 1/3 full Qwest Field for ASU-Cal.

Larry Scott is big into brands, he can see how much the ACC Title game's attendance woes have hurt that conference's image. This separates us from the other conferences as well as providing a legitimate conference game. I don't see the issue, having to beat good teams on the road should be a requirement for going to the Rose Bowl.

Ok so you and Scott both make good points, and I can see how an empty stadium can hurt the overall product... but I can't see the how Larry Scott is comparring it to the NFL, it is different..

In College home field advantage is significant, in the NFL, in most cases, not a huge advantage...

This has to be the reason that all the other major conferences do NOT have a participating team host the championship game.. The Big-10 has already announced their title game will be in Indy..

The BIG-12 championship has always been solid and it travels year to year but always at a neutral site, and the SEC championship speaks for itself, the only failing model is the ACC, and IMO, that is contributed to the fact that they have been poor in football for a decade and there really are not any major implications anyway.. with the new PAC-12, every year the Championship should have national implications...

I wonder how they will allott the tickets? IMO, they should give a significant amount to the visiting team, something like 70-30 split or higher, but who knows...

Just my opinion, thoughts?
