That list is downright hilarious. I have to go to a basketball game right now, but I will be sure to shred it when I get home tonight. :)

3-4 OLBs that I definately think are better than Pace:

Shawn Merriman
Shaun Philips
James Harrison
Adelius Thomas
Bryan Thomas
DeMarcus Ware
Angelo Crowell
Kameron Wimbley
Terrell Suggs

There are still several players that I believe are in the same class, but still better than Pace. Just to name a few:
Antwan Peek
Manny Lawson
Mike Vrabel
Clark Haggans

Bump for Cardsfanmd....

Sorry it took me so long to get back, I have been banned the past few days. I am leaving for ateam breakfast followed by lacrosse practice right now, but I will be home at 6:00. I promise you get a response then. Also, I dont have disprove nine. I agree with a few, just not all of them. I wasn't making a case for him being the best in the game, just that he was better than what most here were giving him credit for.

Come On.. This Pace love affair of yours got to stop.

EDIT: I put Lawson on the list based on his production as a rookie and his overall. He was injured most of last season, so it's hard to compare directly. I still believe he has more potential than Pace.

Looking forward to it. All you need is objective argumentation that Pace is better than 9 players from my list...

I am really not sure how you went a few days and still didn't realize what you have here. Of the 13 players you say are better, only 1 has definitively better stats. Lets go down the line here:

Merriman-Hands-down better player, thats 1

Phillips- No way. The guy is a pass rush specialist who had 30 less tackles than Pace and only 2 more sacks.

Harrison- This guy blew up this year just like Pace--look at his career stats prior to this season. Yes he was impressive though, so I will give you him also--thats 2

A. Thomas- He didn't even play OLB this year, so how is he even in the conversation??? I would like to add though that Thomas didn't even begin to bloom as an OLB until his 5th year. Prior to that he was a STer. Also, his stats weren't even close to Pace's this year 78 tackles 6.5 sacks 2FF and 1int. Wow, those stats are identical to Paces EXCEPT THAT PACE HAD 20 MORE TACKLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bryan Thomas- Are you being serious or just trying to annoy me? How the hell do you compare a guy who had 47 tackles and 2.5 sacks to one who had 98 tackles and 6.5 sacks. Stop reaching please, you are losing credibility here.

Demarcus Ware- Less tackles and ints, but more sacks and FFs. thats 3

Angelo Crowell- What part of 3-4 OLB didn't you get??

Kameron Wimbley- You are really making it tough for me to continue taking you seriously. I guess their stats are simlar except that pace had 2.5 more sack and 50 more tackles!!!!!!

Terrell Suggs- What do you know, Pace was better in every measureable category. More ints more sacks more FFs and 20 more tackles.

Antwaan Peek- 2007 stats- 19 tackles 4 sacks. ARE YOU FFING KIDDING ME????????

Manny Lawson- Like you said, hard to compare since he didn't play. For the record though, you can add up his stats for his career and they still do not compare to Pace's from last season.

Mike Vrabel- 20 less tackles than Pace, but 6 more sacks. PUSH

Clark Haggans- How does 58 tackles and 4 sacks compare to 98 tackles and 6.5 sacks????????????????????????????????????????

OK, so you found three better OLBs, one push and horribly reached on numerous others. Do I need to do anything else to prove my point???

You guys get pissy with me for sticking up for Pace but then make stupid comparisions and downpla the downright fantastic year that he had. When people start making sense and giving him the credit he deserves I will stop pointing out the truth.

Please write back soon as I am eagerly awaiting your response.

Very interesting IMO when you consider that they were both in contract years.

Please, just for my own selfish curiosity, give me 5 3-4 OLBs who you think are better.

BACH, I see you are on the board, what's the deal?

I'm at work (Have a browser with this board open all the time to check news). But, I'm extremely busy, so don't have the time to give a long response.

I will get back to you....

A. Thomas made the Pro Bowl in 07 as an OLB. Can we look at career numbers for Vrabel? Julian Peterson? Derek Brooks? Did Greg Ellis get mentioned?

Brooks played a cover-2, Peterson is 4-3 guy and Ellis had 70 less tackles than Pace. Looking at Vrabel's career #'s means nothing in the present time. Edge has great career #'s too, but who here wouldn't trade him straight up for Marshawn Lynch?

Just out of curiosity, what is Calvin Pace's cap hit going to be?

Here's whose better than Pace:

Merriman- We agree
Ware- Agree
Harrison- Agree
Vrabel- He's better. Six more sacks and four more forced fumbles plus he can double as a tight-end.
Suggs- Not a good season. Still his past production is impressive and he's in his prime. If I had a choice between him or Pace (Same $ etc.) I'd choose Suggs.
Julian Peterson- Was a 3-4 OLB w/ San Fran. Switches between OLB and DE w/ Seattle. He's a lot better.
Phillips- This is close. A lot less tackles but outperformed in all the other categories. Might be better.
Ellis/Spencer- The two split time. Ellis had six more sacks and two more forced fumbles. Had he started more he could have had more tackles.
