The furor has kind of died down over Pace. What kind of game did he have last week?I didn't get to see it.I know he'll have his hands full this week with Orlando Pace.In 4 weeks he'll have gone against probably the 2 best LT's in the game in Pace and JOnes.Hopefully he can step up and have a good game and build some confidence.

Yes Orlando vs Calvin....

Pace has looked solid but not spectacular thus far...of course he has gone against smoe very solid tackles in Clifton and Jones..

He still has a great motor and doesnt give up and has gotten pressure on Favre last week a few times.

Made a tackle on the other side of the field 9 yards down the field on Green last week-impresisve!

He just needs some qork on not letting the tackle get his hands on him first...but that will come in time....

I figured out what his problem was. I had him as my avatar. I have taken care of that and Calvin will have a great game thanks to me.

He's playing "just OK." There's directional improvement each game - but unfortunately it's at a "glacial" rate.

I was gonna ask just to bring up pre-draft arguments how Suggs was doing. I realize he is playing OLB rather than DE but he has 3 sacks already for 32 yards lost. I haven't watched a single Ravens game so I don't know how he has looked.

As of now though I wouldn't trade Bryant Johnson and Pace for Suggs...but I sure wish we got better production out of Pace because the team sure needs it.

zeno..I would agree generally with what you say - but I think you have to factor in that we may not have boldin if we would have taken with suggs on the 6th pick...It is possible that bryant or one of the other 5 receivers taken before boldin may have dropped..and we may have taken them in the 2nd round instead of boldin..we obviously had johnson rated higher than boldin..

Also...if we would have been stuck with the 6th pick - we probably would have taken sullivan, trufant or someone - not suggs- based on post draft comments by graves.

I am glad with what we have - who knows how things would have come down if we would have taken suggs - it may have changed the rest of our draft for us....too early to say for sure - but so far boldin is the creme of the draft crop..

Kerry - I was dwelling about the same thing last night.

But I think Pinnacle's right - Had we drafted Suggs, the whole "supply & demand" equation for the teams following us would have changed.

We'll never know what might have happened.

But I do think that, if Anquan was available when we picked in the second round before, he still would have been available to us in round 2 in most other scenarios.

A more intriguing question might be: "Would Johnson conceivably dropped to us in the second round? And would we have chosen him over Boldin?

(Note - The answer to that might not be as obvious as you'd think. If Sully loved Boldin and felt he was a better value at #2 than Johnson was dropping down from #1, he might very possibly stilled picked Boldin.

Or maybe not.

Like I said - we'll never know.

Its the difference you get when you play a rookie at a key position instead of investing in a vet to play there. True, playing time helps maturity but a vet knows how the game is played.

I expect very little from Pace this year. I do expect him to learn. I just wish we had a vet (besides Wakefield) that could teach him pass rushing techniques. We did draft him to get after the QB and produce sacks.

We did get three guys instead of two. I am glad we have Boldin. He has really stepped it up and could be, barring anything terrible, ROY.

Bryant and Pace will need this year. Hopefully, again, no injuries to hold them back.

I was just wanting a pass rush and penetration from our DL so we would not have to blitz so much and leave our DBs hanging.

If no injuries happen then it will be interesting next year.

But, tommorrow, the RAMS....

Go Cards....Go Red.!!!!

No...we got two guys for two. We got the two first rounders for one. We gave up a fourth rounder. That's a two-for-two. We traded BACK in the second round as part of the deal. That's not getting an extra player. It's just getting a player later in the round rather than earlier. No one ever seems to get this right.

Or, perhaps, more important - is that the CARDS got 4 picks on DAY ONE of the draft... rather than than 3.

really.

I wish people bad mouthing the trade would give it a rest.

We have a potential superstar + bryant johnson (who is still an unknown quantity) at WR. Where would we be without these two guys?

darksiders should just admit that, for whatever reason, be it dumb luck or otherwise, the draft worked out great, and the cards are looking pretty smart at this point.

It's too early to bash the trade or call it a success.
