I'm ok with it but we still need a QBOF

I would be happy to see Palmer with a few more years with our receiving corps.

Very nice to see. I like Carson as QB. As all of you know the Cards have done a lot worse.

I know nothing of cap implications but I trust the present staff much more than years past.

I bet Palmer won't travel to San Francisco to try and up the numbers on his final deal and then play out only half of the contract. Just saying.

I like this. Carson Palmer is the leader of our offense, and think where we'd be without him. Would I prefer to wait until the offseason for health reasons? Of course ;)

Larry could write a perfect script right here .

We need to keep Carson on this team , and I am willing to work with the front office to make that happen . It changes from off- season embarrassment between Larry and the front office to Larry is a Hero. We can hope .

Love the idea. I hope they also can keep Stanton as backup.

Know what I think, if Palmer sends the ball to Fitz the rest of the season like he did last Sunday, Fitz may stay.

+1 and we have to fix the Guard(s) thing if we want to keep him around, he will need Peyton type protection. Cooper panning out would really help, I hope he gets it going this year.

Probably the safest move when you consider there have been a lot more drafted QB busts rather than hits in the last few years. Still need to get a young one at some point but I think this most definitely shows that they don't see Logan Thomas taking over any time soon.

I could see a three year extension or renegotiated contract while BASK decide if Thomas is the long term answer. If after two years into Palmer's new contract they don't feel Thomas is it, then they draft a QBOF. That would give them a year to prep the new QBOF. I could even see them trading u p to grab someone.

When you have a guy that can do the job, you keep him. The draft is a crap shoot, and jury is still out on LT. When we do come up with a young QB, LT or someone else, he'll probably need a couple of years learning the job.

Palmer is a quality starter and as we know Stanton an excellent backup. Palmer will be 35 on Dec 27 while Stanton is just 30 years old.

My guess is 4 years and 64 million. 16 million per year. It's good that Keim is doing this early. For one I think we get him cheaper now. If he takes us to the championship game or the Super Bowl how much do u think he will cost then. I think he would get 20 million or more. Also if he does that and he's not signed he can go to the highest bidder and we are left with only Drew Stanton.

I really like Stanton as our backup but I'm not sold on him being the man. That would mean we might have to try and work out another trade for a QB. Guys like RG3 and Johnny Football could be available for a first round pick but so far are unproven. Tom Brady would cost more than a first rounder. Most likely two first rounders and at 38 just how many years does he have left.

Palmer is as good as they are going to get as far as experienced QBs go. If they do a 3 or 4 year extension and can keep Stanton, then they can continue to try and get some O-line help for him.

Then, as Cardpa said, they can draft a QB after the 2nd year if JT turns out to be a hopeless project (which would be my expectation).

I just don't see a better option for the immediate future so it seems a good way to go to me.

I think trading for either of these guys would set this team back. RG3 has been a dismal failure so far in Washington and Manziel is unproven and I don't think Cleveland is going to let him go anyway. I also don't think they fit the BA offense.

On a separate note I heard the other day on Sirius that Hoyer stated he would NOT sign an extension with Cleveland as long as Manziel is on the roster.

Palmer doesn't have much left, but the Cardinals don't have a better option. Arains has labeled spread quarterbacks as "gimmick" quarterbacks. Unfortunately, very few college teams are running the pro set. If a coaching staff isn't flexible, it takes several years to transform a "gimmick" quarterback into a pro quarterback.

And of course, the Cardinals have several need areas for the draft. Which makes taking a quarterback to sit for a couple years a luxury the Cardinals can't afford.

Hopefully he can play well for 2015,16 and 17. Then in next years draft or the one after that, we can draft someone good and groom them for 2 years before they become the leader of our team.

What shows you he doesnt have much left? He threw for over 4k yards last year and was solid in both healthy games this year.

I thought he just said he wants to be a starter period, doesnt care for what team.
