LOL. A professional organization with no fan affiliation seems to disagree with you:

It's pretty poor reasoning to screen out the INTs that weren't his fault but not add back in the terrible throws that should have been INTs but the defender dropped.

That said, Palmer is right in the middle of the league when it comes to adjusted INT%. I'm more worried about his (poor) situational play than the amount of picks he throws.

Of course you can nit pick that line too but, can you deny that Palmer isn't an upgrade over every QB not named Warner since Warner's retirement?

No.. and if you do.. then I don't know what you've been watching since.

EDIT: Not even accounting for the fact of the WR corps experience in Arizona vs that in Oakland.. just sayin'

I believe player can progress/digress based on philosophy alone. I would not be nearly as optimistic if Palmer were stepping into the starting QB position if Whisenhunt was still the head coach.

I use the word optimistic very loosely. I too believe he is a cut above what we have had here in the last few years. That doesn't mean he will be an all pro QB this year but I am reasonably sure our QB play both statistically and on the field will be improved.

Well, isn't that the primary point of the post?

1. Jaws talked about Palmer
2. I watched all Palmer's INTs
3. Only a handful of INTs were Palmer's boneheaded errors.
4. Palmer is awesome.

Well, if 3 is misreasoned, that's a problem with the post.

I have no argument that Palmer is the best QB we've had since Warner retired, but that's not really the point of the post. Before Palmer, Kolb was the best QB we've had since Warner retired. Saying that this garbage stinks slightly less doesn't change what you're smelling.

After Fitz, I'm not sure there's much of a remove from Palmer's WR corps in Oakland to the one he gets here. As I've said elsewhere, I like Moore, Heyward-Bey, and Hagan.

EDIT:

It's also worth mentioning that Jaws "loves" Carson Palmer so much he rated him 23rd in the NFL. He rated him below passers that you could arguably in the same tier as Palmer. Lower than Sam Bradford (22nd), lower than Alex Smith (20th), lower than Josh Freeman (21st), lower than Andy Dalton, lower than Phil Rivers.

Honestly, when Palmer was traded here, I don't remember a lot of people complaining that Palmer throws too many picks. I'm not sure who Jaws is talking about there. I think that critics of Palmer are concerned that he hasn't helped his teams win too many games in quite a long time, and his QBR reflects that.

3. Only a handful of INTs were Palmer's boneheaded errors. - Yes

I don't believe Palmer is the savior of our franchise. I am, however, excited for the upcoming season and seeing improvement in the team that I have loved following since I was a kid and going to their games in the blistering heat at Sun Devil Stadium.

As long as the car is going in the right direction, it's exciting and hopefully will result in a return to the Super Bowl in a few years.

Interesting how that will turn out since Palmer is being coached by a head coach who believes in going over situational football.

We will see.

Too small a sample size but Kolb was 2nd best in adjusted Int Rate. That's with a stinky Oline and no running game. I still say if he doesn't get injured the Cards win at least 8 games last year.

I don't care who you are but if your team is loosing a lot of games and always behind then you are going to take more chances with your throws. Unless you have no heart and don't care about winning.

Hopefully CP and the WR's are all on the same page when the season starts.

When we signed Palmer I thought he was the best we could do. Any QB success will depend on his team. Not just the OL but most everyone. Just hope we have a good match for Palmer to be his best. I am not so sure Seattle and SF will be as good as they were last year. There two QBs were spectacular and that may be hard to repeat. I think St Louis will definitely be better and we will be better than most people think if we stay healthy.

Great point about Palmer and situational football. This is the one thing I think could help him more than any other. You'd think a vet would have that down, but when I went back over his stats a month or so ago, I was so disheartened by his first quarter and first half stats. I mean, statistically it's really hard not to think he picked up a lot of #'s (throughout his career) in garbage time or while trying to come from behind. It's great if you can come back and win games, but when you're part of the reason you're behind to begin with that's no bueno.
