Any hope of a quicker-than-expected Carson Palmer return has been dashed.

The Cardinals’ quarterback was placed on injured reserve Thursday with his broken arm, a move that will keep him out of action for a minimum of eight weeks. The earliest Palmer can return to the field is the Christmas Eve matchup against the Giants, which is the second-to-last game of the regular season.

The Cardinals should try out a new QB during this period. Stanton is a backup QB at best so the Cardinals need to see if they can find a starter going forward, at least until they draft their QBOTF.

I'd even be interested in Kaepernick but I cannot understand why they do not give Gabbert the opportunity. It's not like the Cardinals are going anywhere.

Palmer is finished for the season. Cards should move TJ Logan to active squad to return kicks. We need to see what he can do.

nope, he isnt. Theyll be fine with Stanton till him And Johnson get back

He's on IR now, so out 8wks. Wont be back until wk 16. You think he'll be ready to start that week?

They may have found something 'out of the ordinary' in surgery that caused this, so i wouldn't count on him playing again.

If there ever was a time to see what Gabbert can do is now but Bruce "Stubborn as a mule" Arians is going to play the stiff at QB. That's called throwing in the towel.

Good we need the best pick we can get. I don't want to win another game this year.

Yeah... it'll be uber painful to watch Stanton stink up the joint all season, but better in the end when we get our pick of QBOTF... which Gabbert sure as hell ain't, nor should he be given the chance to possibly McCown this team out of the top of the draft like 2003.

I wouldn't start Gabbert yet. I would wait until Stanton proves, after managing a few games, that he is horrible as a starting QB(yes, I know that we already know this). Why throw Gabbert to the wolves right now?

Not for nothing but is there anything in the 1st round draft picks by BASK that would have you confident they would make the right pick?

I just want the best shot at a young QB. How good Bask is or is not is still helped by the better pick IMO. Plus with the cap it's big to have the cheap young QB over a 28 Million a year vet. Unless that vet is a Rogers kind of guy and that will never happen.

That's what I'm thinking. With this OL, there's no way Gabbert would last through the season. If they have any hopes of Gabbert or even Stanton contibuting next year, why put them through that kind of abuse? By splitting the games between the two, at least you're rationing the beatings. I'm pretty sure that's what they're thinking. They know who Stanton is.
