After just one week, Carolina Panthers cornerback Jaycee Horn is no longer the highest-paid defensive back in NFL history.
Now, that title belongs to Derek Stingley Jr.—who reached a three-year, $90 million deal with his Houston Texans on Monday.
The 23-year-old Stingley, who was named a first-time first-team All-Pro and Pro Bowler in 2024, is set to earn an average of $30 million per season. That mark now surpasses that of Horn ($25 million), who agreed to a (then-record-breaking) four-year, $100 million extension with the Panthers last Monday.
Stingley, per NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, will also rake in $89 million in guaranteed money—another all-time high. The previous record was held by Denver Broncos star and 2024 AP Defensive Player of the Year Patrick Surtain II, who inked to a $77.4 million guarantee this past September.
Horn, in terms of guaranteed money, now ranks third all-time with $72 million, according to Over The Cap.
Oh, and he also doesn't seem too broken up about his new standing . . .
