ron rivera and russ grimm are going to be the top canidates for this team. i believe terrel owens is going to be the main reason why coaching canidates would be relucant to take this job. i think the only one that might take it would be jim fassel. he sounds like he really wanting to get back into coaching. how about the colts qb coach. i believe jim mora is holding out for the washington job. i thinking if the cowboys were to go after a coach in college it would be arkansas head coach houston nutt. that is a big if.

Just heard Brad Sham on FoxSR and he threw out the names of Bob Stoops, Norv Turner, and Jeff Fisher as possibilities. No mention of Grimm. He was clear that this was just pure speculation by him and that he had no inside info on it.

I heard some Dallas guys throw Singletary's name out there as well, but that could be because they have to interview a minority candidate.

Maybe Jerry Jones can talk Bill Cowher out of retirement. :D

According to ESPN, he'd have to compensate the Steelers if he wanted Cowher THIS year. It would likely cost at least one first-round pick. I don't see Jerry coughing one up.

They talked about that possibility with Sham too Renz. Sham's take on that was "Jerry Jones has so much respect for the Rooney family that I just don't see that as very possible."

Yep because he had one year left on his contract. However, Cowher would never retire from the Steelers to coach the Cowgirls or any other team. It's not like he was upset when he left. Their were rumors that he thought he was underpaid. However, the Steelers ownership were reportedly ready to give him a boost with an extention if he had decided to return. He is keeping his home and family in Pitt and I think this really was a case where he wanted to take some time off.

Don't be surprised to see this guy in a year or 2 back in Pitt if the new coach flames out.

as previously stated Mora is with Seattle working on the defense as of yesterday (seattle was also able to snag ST coach Bruce DeHaven during this mess)

also, my gut tells me cowher is out of the picture - but he is a flashy name and JJ likes to make a splash - I could see him going big on this one

to me, stoops would make some sense though - Jones likes college guys and it is a strong name in that area of the country

Parcells is OVERRATED! Has been for a long time. IMO Belichek carried his jock when he was his DC.

Rivera would be a good fit. Jones will have to wait two weeks before he can interview him but this is really the last opening as no solid coach wants to work for the Raiders.

Parcells has won a Superbowl and taken 2 teams there. He's taken 4 or 5 teams to the playoffs now.

I don't know how he could be considered overrated objectively. He's been successful everywhere he's gone.

Let's not forget Butch Davis. He would jump out of North Carolina, without ever coaching a game there in a heartbeat. He has the Dallas connection.
