Parker sore all over, but will play in Game 4

By Jeff McDonald on May 8, 10 03:03 PM | Permalink | Comments (0)

Spurs point guard Tony Parker is black and blue and sore all over, but he expects to play in Game 4 on Sunday.

"No excuse now," Parker said. "We're down 3-0. Just have to play."
Parker emerged from the Spurs' Game 3 loss to the Suns with a lower back contusion, an inflamed right elbow and a sore right shoulder. X-rays on the back were negative, and he will not be listed on the Spurs' injury report for Game 4.

He suffered most of the damage on a collision with Suns forward Amare Stoudemire with 8:02 left in the second quarter.

"That big fall changed the whole game," said Parker, who was making his first start since March 6. "I never felt the same."

Parker finished with 10 points, going 5 of 17 from the floor and missing all four of his free-throw tries.

Whew, good thing the Spurs don't make injury excuses. Oh, that's right, it's because they've never had an injury in the playoffs before. Welcome to the real world.

what ended up being the deal on that one play where he was holding his ear? He held it like Tyson had bit it off, then there was a timeout, then he seemed fine. it was odd.

It's a classic move by players with shaken egos. Pretend to be hurt so you don't take all the blame for sucking. Also, you then get extra commendation when (if) you come back and play well. Jordan did it all the time. Bryant does it. Hell, they all do it.

As for the Stoudemire collision, it was another BS call really. It's no call when no one is at fault. I always get riled up when a defensive foul is called as a result of the defender doing nothing. Parker caused the contact and deserves whatever injury he gets. The Spurs' modus operandi of throwing their bodies into the fray to get a call is going to take a toll on them physically.

I'm not positive but it looked to me like Manu might have clipped Tony there. Maybe Ginobili lets his nails grow; I certainly wouldn't put it past him. Actually, it wouldn't surprise me if he turned red, sprouted horns and a tail and manifested a pitchfork but then I might be slightly biased.

Poor LB caught underneath the arm of Duncan and they call a foul on him. If there had to be a foul called it should have been called for bad odor. This was really a no call.

Exactly. Now if only Amare had been able to check his momentum just a little more, Parker would have lept sideways at nobody and exposed their ******** tactic even more. I cant wait for a perfectly timed ole' move by one of our defenders and watch a Spur land on their ass with no contact whatsoever.

You guys are being too harsh on Tony.

NBA Courts are not soft. Do you have any idea the toll that flopping on a surface like that for 82 games plus playoffs takes on a body?

:p

Using that logic, Manu should be in the ICU right now...

Spurs fans will say it was a cheap shot lol. Like barbosa's foul on Duncan. Can't wait to wipe these Spurs so they can watch the WCF off their couches. Kill them Suns. Send out the Dragon ;)
