Unless for some unknown reason McFadden falls to us at #16, which is very very unlikely...we need to draft to beef up our pass rush. As others have cited, a shutdown corner does not exist today because the rules are in the favor of the offense and the only way to shut someone down is to attack the QB and control the line of scrimmage. Leinart or Warner and even with James at HB for another year we can put up over twenty points a game, But we need a pass rush. Draft someone who can raise hell in the opponent's backfield.

Totally agree, we need a good pass rush first and foremost. If we can get more pressure up front, our secondary will be much better. We still need to bring in another corner through draft or FA, but getting a good pass rush is critical for our success next season.

I would like to see a pass rushing DE/OLB come in from the draft.

As for the first round ?

B.P.A.

The Cards are FINALLY in a position were they can go BPA in the first two rounds. Of course I don't think a QB or WR is in our plans but besides those two BPA at any position.

Calis Campbell sp?

What do you guys think of him?

Calis Campbell is a 4-3 DE IMO.

If Gholston is gone then I probably go with Groves or Shawn Crable if we are looking for a guy to disrupt the backfield.

My hope is that the QB class doesnt dissapoint in workouts becuase there could be a decent amount of QB's that go in the top 15. Thats just the senior QB's. Also hope that Groves has a work warrior type day like is projected and goes before Gholston.

That's much less clear than it is when you're dealing with a Top 8 pick, though. There's much more of a muddle unless a player drops who is clearly blue-chip talent. If it's close between a DE and a CB, the Cards have to go with the DE. It'll be interesting to see what juniors come out and how the combine process goes. Huzzah!

I agree. I have no problem with a pass rusher though I prefer a CB or OL. If we get a great, or even really good, pass rusher our defense would be much better.

I tried to evaluate Groves last night. It was very difficult because he is taken off the field all the time. He looks athletic enough to be a 3-4 OLB but I just wasn't very impressed. His missed tackle led to CJ Spiller's 83 yard TD.

Last year I was totally opposed to BPA. This coming draft it may make some sense, but the emphasis is going to be on pass rusher and more importantly DB's,

I have been on the Groves bandwagon --

watched him in his bowl game last night and it was a collective yawn for me.

I agree not his best game. I also like Harvey from Florida. My wife is from Gainesville so I see a lot of Gators. Course he is a junior. He would have to commit.

I see your point, but I'm of the opposite opinion. I'd want to draft a corner higher. Smith, Okeafor, Dockett, & Tafoya have all shown abilities to get to the QB. While none are top-tier pass rushers, they're decent.

On the other hand, our CBs are some of the worst in the league. I'd be upgrading there first and foremost in the offseason.

The Cards are in position to take the bpa but they will have to fill a few holes during free agency if we really want to get to the next level.

Sigh. BPA is a myth. Unless it's QB Ryan. He is the BPA of this draft.

I think i'm off the Crable train. I watched him today and he has no pass rush moves. He just runs off the end. That won't cut it in the NFL. I'm sure he'll improve but he just seems to be gettin by on superior athletic talent. Plus this is really the first good year he has. As a 5th year senior i question whether he'll have an impact. He's one of those guys who looks the part but doesn't play it. Then you have question his intelligence. He's from Massilon,Ohio and OSU recruited him hard but he went to Michigan :doi:.
