First off I think we missed Steve Breaston more then was thought to be the case but more to the point Kurt was dreadful from the jump. SF is no good, repeat, no good and if we couldn't stop their rush what will we do against a team with a legitimate PR? The defense was terrific. that last drive can't be held against them. They kept us in the game. There wasn't even anything wrong with the play calling. It was Kurt's faulty execution. This certainly wasn't what I'd had in mind since Feb.1 or what I'd been waiting for so anxiously these past 8 months. And as an aside I didn't like Larry running into the tunnel like that alone after the game, what's up with that?

The tone has been set for the season. You had to know they were going to give us the short stuff. Hightower should have had 20 catches today.

Yea penality, after penality, shoot yourself in the foot. This team was not ready to compete. Will we be like what 9 out of the last 11 teams that lost in the Super Bowl did not make it to the playoffs. Our offense sucked (Hightower seem to be ready) but the rest just seemed to think that it would be given to them.

This team better wake up!

The O, on the other hand, was in-sync so very little, that they were hardly a factor in the game. I just hate to see anybody rag on the D after this effort. They held Gore to almost nothing all day. Phenominal job. They just got no help from the Offense.

Just remember we played a team with that doesn't IMO have a legit starting QB. So all we had to do was go after Gore. The D played good enough to win, but you win as a team and lose as a team.

Ah this is my thread to vent. I just got home from the game and to put it lightly, I am irritated.

The offense looked like horsecrap for the most part and I think the qb and the coach are to blame for that.

The defense played well enough to win, they still had problems with the same damn plays SF runs that they never stop, but overall they played ok.

The offense is what is really irritating me. I say irritating, but in reality I don't want to get banned. How in the hell can you play like crap in the preseason, play it off like everything is ok, and then play like crap the first game of the year and think it's ok?

My wife just got home with food, so I'm gonna chill and read comments from you guys but I am pissed. If we go 5-12 with the talent we have on this team, I may hang myself

The PASSING offense looked horrible. They lost us the game.

Today, Whiz + Fitz + Boldin + Warner + Miller + OL = crap. And that is some very very very very expensive crap to say the least.

The running game was generating some yards (you wouldn't know it cause a false start was called the minute any momentum was gained).

Speaking of which, penatlies were horrific.

The defense played well.


All and all a very dissapointing loss that is sure to generate a couple "Super Bowl hangover", and "Last year was a fluke......" headlines. And at least for this week, they are deserved.

This win was very important for this team, the next two games are going to be tough.

A 1 O'Clock east coast game next week, and the Colts the following week. YIKES! This could get ugly, quick.

Key play of the game was Gore's uncontested TD reception. Without that, they kick a FG.

The Cardinals committed way too many stupid penalties, Kurt was horrible, Levi Brown couldn't block anyone, and the rest of the O-line was mediocre to poor. Considering how poor the Niners defense has been on rushing the passer, the O-line's performance was inexcusable. What is Russ Grimm getting paid for?
