Hopefully not very high in the case of Parker. I think this one's a situation of slow and steady winning the race. He's just coming back from Tommy John surgery and was drafted right out of high school so he wasn't the most mature pitcher to begin with. He hasn't been particularly sharp in AA ball so far, and given where the big club is at right now talent-wise, I really don't see a need to rush him anyways.

Paul Goldschmidt is a different story. This could still be a hot start, but that's looking less and less likely. I'd bet on him giving AAA a try pretty soon. After that, who knows?

Jarrod Parker will see time in the majors at some point this season, barring injury. The earliest is probably the all-star break and for sure by the September call-ups.

Goldschmidt probably won't see any time in the majors this year. For one thing, this is his first year above A ball. The D-Backs needs to figure out what they are going to do with 1st base in the majors before Goldschmidt goes anywhere. Also the PCL is a notorious hitters league so he wouldn't really be challenged. AA is normally where your best prospects play and since the Southern League is more of a pitchers league Goldschmidt would be best served staying in Mobile.

One other thing working against Goldschmidt is the fact he is not on the 40 man roster. In order for him to get a call-up he needs to be placed on the 40 man and have some one removed, there by exposing them to waivers.

What I think will happen is somewhere before the trade deadline Branyan will be dealt to a contending team looking for a power bat off the bench. Allen will be brought up to the majors to see what he can do. Goldschmidt will probably take Branyan's 40 man spot and be given a chance to win the job next spring. If he is lucky he could get a look during spring but that would require Allen to implode in the majors.

Don't see Goldschmidt coming up but I sure wish they would of kept Allen instead of Miranda.

I agree. We didn't need to add both Branyan and Miranda to the mix at 1B, especially with Nady starting there as the righty in a lefty-righty platoon, cutting down starts for the lefties Branyan and Miranda.

What is with the D'backs and Suns overstocking themselves at one position?

This would have been the year to see if Allen could make it or break it as a regular, whether in LF or 1B, with 1B being the more logical choice.

Ryan Roberts seems to now be the righty bat in LF when lefties start, with 3B as his main position and the occasional start at 2B.

Roberts is 2nd in HR's and 3rd in RBI's, despite being tied for 6th in games played. Where would we be without him? And when will he be given the 3B job?

The kind of HR's and RBI's you'd expect from a Mark Reynolds without the all-time worst strikeouts and near-Mendoza line batting average. And better fielding.

Actually Parra has more or less locked up the left field spot. It may surprise you but he actually is hitting about the same as Roberts vs lefties. Roberts is more or less our starting 3rd baseman at this point too. We will continue to see Mora get a few starts and have Nady/Roberts out in left but for the most part it is set.

Until Willie Bloomquist comes back this month. He is our only potential leadoff hitter who makes the rest of the lineup better.

'Can't overlook his good start any more than that of Roberts.

Parra's average has fallen to .297, which is closer to his lifetime average of .279. I like Parra but, as I posted once before, Bloomquist means more to us at leadoff than Parra means at 8th in the lineup.
