GOLDY!! And nice defensive play in the 9th too, would be so nice to have found a power bat for 1B that can play some respectable defense too.

That probably wasn't as great of a play as it looked, but it's much better than expected. I've read numerous times he doesn't look natural at 1B. THAT looked natural. He even kept his head on the throw to the pitcher.

Ya, I expected him to just be a guy to catch the ball at first base. When I saw him actually look comfortable diving for the ball and it not look awkward, like it was the first time he'd ever done it, I thought, "wow he might actually be decent at covering some territory over there with his size". Don't think he will ever be great at defense, but if he can at least be decent, his bat will turn him into an All-Star quickly (assuming his numbers translate at all to the pros, cause with that bomb its clear his power will)

I found this a little surprising about Goldy:

Ryan Roberts singles to break up the no-hitter, bringing up Arizona rookie first baseman Paul Goldschmidt. It’s his second game after getting recalled from the minors, where he hit .306/.435/.626 at Double-A, with 30 home runs and an 82/92 walk/strikeout ratio. Keith Law reported on Tuesday’s Baseball Today podcast that scouts aren’t in love with Goldschmidt, despite the big-time power, citing his lack of bat speed.

Bat speed didn't look great in the Futures game.
