Payroll Question

I was talking to a somewhat "smug" Sox fan about the series and I told her that it took the Sox70 some odd years to win while the D'backs did it in 5, she then said it wasn't legit since the D'backs bought their team, I reminded her that EVERY team buys their team. Does anyone know where I can find the team payrolls and a break down by who spent the most last year? I'm sure Boston is up there

Interesting when I compared both years, D'Backs were 8th and the Sox were 2nd in payroll when we won, this past year the Sox were 2nd again..Hmmm...who bought their team? Idiots

The 2004 Red Sox were also the team with the highest payroll to ever win the World Series.

Anyone who tells you the Sox are not guilty of outspending the competition to win is basically clueless about baseball. i wonder how far the Sox would have gotten had they not shelled out about $250 million to Pedro, Manny, Damon, and Keith Foulke. Not to mention they were one of only two teams that could afford Schilling. The only two teams in the last decade that can legitimately argue that they "built" a championship team from within are the 2003 Marlins and the 2002 Angels.

Yeah that's true. I just think it's hysterical that somehow since they win once in over 70 years they are amazing, that just tells me they're amazing at losing. Love or hate the Yanks, they're still 26 wins to the Sox 1, some rivalry
