Mar. 27—MIDLAND — This June, Chevron and the Ariat Texas Rattlers, Fort Worth's only professional bull riding team, will unite to host the second annual PBR Chevron Showdown presented by Ariat Texas Rattlers on June 12 at the Ector County Coliseum. The event, part of PBR's Challenger Series, is anchored by a landmark charity initiative that will see Chevron donate $800 to a local organization each time a member of the team logs a qualified ride both at the June 12 event and during the 2025 PBR Camping World Team Series regular season.

This year's PBR Chevron Showdown will feature an exciting matchup between two of the top championship teams in the PBR Team Series. The 2023 PBR Team Champions, the Ariat Texas Rattlers, will face off against the 2022 PBR Team Champions, the Nashville Stampede, all while riding alongside members of the Odessa College Wranglers rodeo team in a thrilling team bull riding format.

"The inaugural PBR Chevron Showdown was a massive hit with fans," Chad Blankenship, Ariat Texas Rattlers general manager, said in a news release. "This June 12th is poised to be even bigger and better, with PBR Team Series champions Nashville Stampede joining our champion Ariat Texas Rattlers and the Odessa College Rodeo team for a spectacular night of bull riding entertainment. Thanks to Chevron and every ticket buyer, the event will also create a significant charitable impact."

"The PBR Showdown was a unique opportunity for our OC Rodeo Bull Riders to train and learn from the best in the business," Tom Kelly, head coach of the Odessa College rodeo team, said in the release. "Meeting and competing with the Texas Rattlers provided a level of confidence to our team and it has definitely been reflective in their competitive performance this year. Our OC Rodeo Team is forever grateful for the economic benefits that were provided to support our team activities including boot camp and scholarships. We are looking really forward to another great training and competition this year."

Tickets for the event are on sale now and can be purchased online at ETIX.com.

In 2024 Chevron donated over $80,000 to local Permian Basin charities with every ride made by an Ariat Texas Rattler, both in the PBR Chevron Showdown and in the regular season of the PBR Camping World Team Series. The program donated funding to nonprofits in the Permian Basin, including the Midland Children's Rehabilitation Center Hippotherapy Program, FFA programs in MISD and ECISD, and the Reeves County Junior Livestock Show.

The popular "$800 for 8 Seconds" program is set to make a triumphant return in 2025, continuing its tradition of giving back to the community. In addition to supporting these charitable causes, ticket sales from the event will benefit the Odessa College Rodeo Team, further bolstering the future of rodeo talent in Texas. Fans can look forward to thrilling rides that not only showcase incredible skill but also make a meaningful difference.
