Sorry I didn't see this sooner. Have built a ton of PC's myself and repair some on occasion. Whenever your PC won't boot, always check the memory first. It's easier to check if you have multiple sticks or an extra lying around. RAM can become unseated by heat expansion over time. Also, if it's cheap RAM it can go bad or if it's OC'd it can go bad over time.

The usual culprits are RAM, Power supply unit or Hard Drive that causes no boot issues. It's rarely the GPU (video card). Often when a GPU is going bad it will usually boot but your picture will be something less then diserable or lockup AFTER reboot.

Always buy good ram and am still kicking myself for not trying that first.

Have a perfectly good duplicate set in wife's pc

yeah, ram was my first guess. its cheaper to test too...and if it isnt RAM....well you have yourself a decent little upgrade to work with.
