How can you not even think about it or even say something when looking at it?

I had one of those type of hair cuts my freshman year.

Since we're talking like chicks.... I think Ray King has the fattest ass out of any other major leaguer.... he makes David Wells feel good about himself

Cheese, I bring this up only because you said that your opinion of him would largely depend on tonight's game. And seeing in that he basically sealed the first Red Sox Wolrd Series in 90 years against the best offensive team in baseball on the road, do you still consider Pedro a small-game pitcher? Personally, I can't wait until the Angels get him in the offseason for a few years of quality starting followed by a few more years of dominant bullpen work.

This validates Pedro a lot in my eyes no doubt. This was an abolsutely dominating perfromance on the biggest stage against a great offense with their back up against the wall. I am very impressed and will give Pedro his due - I just wanted to see it done in more than one post-season - talk about CRUSHING A CURSE - GOOD LORD!

Back to the Curt vs. Pedro matchup, remember that had it not been for Mariano Rivera's cutter to second and Scott Brosius' failure to throw to first, Curt Schilling would have lost Game 7 of the 2001 World Series. To boot, he would have blown a 7th inning lead and given up the game winning home run on an 0-2 pitch. Not what'd you'd expect of your ace...

Okay, I'm being a bit unfair to Curt here, as he obviously only blew a one-run lead -- albiet to a team that had scored a grand total of 6 runs not off Kim or Lopez -- and the 0-2 pitch was an excellent hit by Soriano and I don't think Curt could have thrown a better pitch. But my point is, you're judging Pedro too harshly without looking at the whole picture.

Besides Pedro's Game 5 performance against a very good Cleveland team in 1999, he also beat the Yankees in Game 3 of the ALCS that year -- the only game the Yankees lost all postseason.

Plus, the game tonight. I love Curt, but Pedro has had a far better career.

You neglect to mention that Curt gave up 2 runs coming back on back to back three days rest - He pitched THREE times from Saturday to Sunday - 3 times in EIGHT Days - and I'm giving Pedro his due - tonight's performance was a great perfromance (don't make me start talking about the lack of pressure on Pedro in a game where you're up 2-0). Bottom line - he stepped up tonight.

And Pedro's regular seasons have been unbelievable, but ther is still no comparison whatsoever as far as their postseasons are concerned.

I would be willing to bet that Pedro Martinez is NOT 33 years old......

His pitching velocity has dropped off like he is 35... with the status of the Dominicans and their questionable age practices and switching around birth certificates and such I wouldn't be suprised.... Much like how Rafael Furcal magically aged two years after he got busted for a DUI a few years back

Ryan, I had the same thought - "He's 33??!! No way!" But apart from his face looking 35-36, he is a relatively small man, and they have always said the torque of pitching on his body is extremely wearing. Still - I'm with you.

I'm gonna wash that curse right outa my hair, I'm gonna wash that curse right outa my hair, and $w**p those birds away!
